As of today, they are still listed in Mediabase & BDS as a Rhythmic reporter because its playlist still favors Rhythmic hits even with the pop content thrown in.

Pure dance-music radio stations ( as opposed to CHR / rhythmic and Rhythmic AC formats such as MOViN ) are not very common but tend to have loyal audiences in the markets where they do exist.

When KFMS changed from top 40 to rhythmic top 40 in 2002 ( they are now a Mexican Adult Hits station as KWID ), KLUC changed to a more CHR Top-40 format versus a previous Rhythmic format, but still continued to report to Mediabase and Nielsen BDS as a Rhythmic reporter although remaining the mass appeal station for Las Vegas.

Las Vegas & Phoenix, Arizona ( served by sister station KZON ) are the only CBS Radio rhythmic markets having rival Rhythmic CHR stations.

Although it may have elements of the former KCMG, KHHT had not tilted all the way back to Rhythmic Oldies or Urban AC as most of the music are in line with other soft-leaning Rhythmic Adult Contemporary outlets in nature.

Interestingly, XHTZ, despite being the market's only Rhythmic Top 40 ( although they billed themselves as " San Diego's # 1 Top 40 Hit Music Radio station "), continues to share the same music as KHTS, KSIQ and as of April 2012, KEGY, all of whom are Rhythmic-leaning Top 40 / CHRs, along with Adult Top 40 KMYI.

Beasley Broadcasting Group launched " 102. 7 Now FM " KFRH in Las Vegas, both with similar sounding CHR / Rhythmic / Top 40 formats and there are speculations that many other CBS Radio stations might flip to the similar format.

The flip of KIXZ from Country to Top 40 joins an already crowded current-based music field in Spokane: KZBD ( Top 40 ), KZZU-FM ( Adult Top 40 ), KEZE ( Rhythmic ), and KGZG-FM ( Rhythmic ) are the station's current competitors.

By the final quarter of 2001, both WDRQ and WKQI were leaning very heavily toward Rhythmic CHR.

The " WiLD " format is patterned after most Clear Channel owned Rhythmic Top 40 stations by playing Mainstream Rhythmic Pop / Dance tracks and very few Hip Hop / R & B tracks.

KQKS, also known as KS107. 5, is a very successful Rhythmic Top 40 radio station.

The station was very successful as an Urban Contemporary and Rhythmic Top 40 in 1980s as WJAX-FM before it flipped to its current format in 1986.

In June 2009, speculation began circulating that WPGC might be evolving towards a Top 40 / CHR direction or back to its former urban-leaning Rhythmic format similar to sister station WZMX.

On WKTU HD-1, the Rhythmic Top-40 format is heard on the original analog station, while WKTU HD-2 has played Country Music similar to the previous Country station occupying 103. 5.

Although they lean towards R & B / Hip-Hop, Wired also adds Rhythmic Pop tracks to their playlist.

In January 2006, Wired 96. 5's began a gradual switch from being categorized as CHR Rhythmic to CHR Pop, when the station changed its slogan to " Where Hit Music Lives " ( which they revived in 2011 ) indicating a more Top 40 / Pop playlist, but after a brief flirtation it did not evolve and stayed Rhythmic.

In 1999, Chancellor and Capstar had merged, forming AMFM, Inc. With AMFM now owning AC station KOST, they evolved KBIG to a Hot AC format with a lean on ' 80s gold, uptempo AC currents, and Rhythmic pop.

In 1993 they released two EPs on Cherry Red Records, " Crate " and " Pull Thru Barker ", followed in 1994 by the single " Doorstop Rhythmic Bloc " and album Pointless Walks to Dismal Places, which won critical acclaim.

The owners switched it to a Rhythmic Contemporary format as Groove 103. 1 ( since Egil owned rights to the " Groove Radio " name ), but after the flooding of negative feedback crashed their voicemail system, they brought the Dance format back a week later, relaunching with the song " Children " by Robert Miles and continued with an electronica-intensive Dance Hits format for a year.

Success in the United States has been limited and they have only charted on the U. S., Dance Radio Airplay, Hot Dance Singles Sales, and Rhythmic Top 40 chart.

The move may have been a response to a change in directions at rival station KIIS, which was programming Top 40 hits, until they started a shift towards a Rhythmic lean, since the market itself is heavily Hispanic and tends to favor this genre.

After KDAY began shifting to Old-School Hip-Hop in August 2009, KPWR briefly increased its playlist with Hip-Hop currents, but as of 2010 it began embracing Electropop tracks, and with KAMP moving in on their audience with their shift towards Rhythmic, KPWR continues to add Rhythmic Pop tracks in an effort to retain its Hispanic base, as they see KAMP as a serious competitor.

As of 2011, Power 106 had decreased the amount of plays they give to Rhythmic Pop tracks so it can focus on R & B / Hip Hop product, but given the changing taste among its listeners, it continues to add the occasional Rhythmic Pop / Dance track, as it contributes to both Mediabase and BDS Rhythmic reporting panels but remains heavily within the R & B / Hip Hop area.

The flip to Rhythmic also brings the format back to Milwaukee for the first time since September 1994, when WLUM carried the format before they flipped to Alternative, which at the time was due to owner Willie Davis ' decision to move the station away from playing the increasing Hip-Hop content that he felt was too offensive.

On April 5, 1990 they switched formats to Rhythmic Top 40 under PD Rick Thomas, with a Dance-leaning direction.

It became a Top 20 hit on both Rhythmic / Dance format radio and on the Hot Dance Club Play chart.

A change was also likely due to Wild's program director being released days before the change, but on August 30, 2012, it was announced that WWVA will retain their Rhythmic format, but will probably tweak the direction under its new PD for both WWVA and WKLS.

It peaked at # 17 on both the US Rhythmic Top 40 and Philippine Pop Singles charts, but reached # 8 on PH R & B / Soul Singles chart.

With the unique combination of both KPWR and KZLA, the move gave Emmis and Los Angeles its first Rhythmic duopoly, as well as the second duopoly in California with this arrangement, the other being Clear Channel Communications siblings KMEL and KYLD in San Francisco.
