São Carlos (; named after Saint Charles Borromeo ) is a city of 221, 950 inhabitants ( IBGE / 2010 ) in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

The county was organized October 1, 1812 and named for Saint Charles Borromeo, an Italian cardinal.
