This particular list, dated 18 April 1945, was given to Keneally by Pfefferberg when he was persuading Keneally to write Schindler's story.

Whether Schindler's story is true or not that Beethoven at first contemptuously dismissed Diabelli's waltz as a Schusterfleck ( rosalia / " cobbler's patch "), there is no doubt the definition fits the work perfectly – " musical sequences repeated one after another, each time modulated at like intervals " – as can be seen clearly in these three examples:

The story is not only Schindler's.

Lustig received his first Oscar in 1993 for the production of Schindler's List, a film based on the novel of Thomas Keneally ( which is, in turn, based on the true-life story of a German manufacturer who saved hundreds of Jews during World War II ).

Other productions included an early example of a formatted documentary, Thighs, Lies & Beauty, an investigation of the myths and reality surrounding the beauty business for BBC1 ; The Art of Tripping, a 2 hour dramatised documentary for Channel Four on drug taking and the arts starring Bernard Hill ; a Frontline ( Channel Four ) current affairs film featuring the story of South African Jann Turner whose father was assassinated in front of her when she was 13, and as an adult returns to South Africa to look at the arguments for revenge versus reconciliation in the new South Africa ; Steven Spielberg on " Schindler's List " and Tom Hanks & The World According to Gump, both for the BBC ; and Wagner vs Wagner, for Channel Four, featuring Richard Wagner's great grandson on the composer's political and cultural legacy of anti-semitism and race hatred.

Their story has been depicted in the book Schindler's Ark, by Thomas Keneally, and Steven Spielberg's film adaptation of the novel, Schindler's List.

Mietek Pemper further aided Schindler's efforts by compiling and typing the list of 1, 200 Jews — 1, 000 of Schindler's workers and 200 other inmates — who were sent to Brünnlitz in October 1944.

Schindler's testimony is not generally trusted by modern musicologists ( for discussion, see Anton Schindler ); however, in the case of van Swieten there is concrete evidence preserved in the form of a letter from van Swieten to Beethoven.

This latter work was the inspiration for the film Schindler's List.

After dating for six weeks, the couple married on 6 March 1928, in an inn on the outskirts of Zwittau, Schindler's hometown.
