Rosa has an especially large following in Finland, and in 1999, he created a special 32-page Donald, Scrooge, Gearloose & nephews strip for his Finnish fans ; Sammon Salaisuus ( translates to The secret of the Sampo, but it is officially named The Quest for Kalevala

Douglas is a cousin of Scrooge who has appeared in several Danish Disney comic stories.

Gideon also has an antagonistic relationship with his brother Scrooge.

Magica has an odd relationship with Scrooge, sometimes even manifesting itself in mutual attraction.

He rarely has issues breaking the law, cheating and using other unfair tactics in order to fulfill his goal of becoming the world's richest duck, distinguishing him from Scrooge McDuck.

In this story, Scrooge, who holds the title of the Richest Duck in the World, learns that a businessman from South Africa has also claimed this title.

While Scrooge has his nephews helping him or advising him, Flintheart faces every situation alone.

Even at the end of the story when Scrooge has won and Flintheart passes out after finding he is only second best, he has to be carried home by Huey, Louie and Dewey since he has no one else there to help him.

Since then Flintheart Glomgold has appeared in more than 100 Egmont stories, some of which depict him as an influential member of Duckburg's Billionaires Club ( which also includes Scrooge and John D. Rockerduck ).

After Scrooge completes all the regular levels, Flintheart challenges him to a race in which the winner will take all of the treasure Scrooge has acquired.

The third spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, harrows Scrooge with dire visions of the future if he does not learn and act upon what he has witnessed including Tiny Tim's death.

It is shown that Scrooge has passed away where businessmen planned to attend if lunch is provided.

Scrooge has become a different man overnight and now treats his fellow men with kindness, generosity and compassion, gaining a reputation as a man who embodies the spirit of Christmas.

However, in Don Rosa's The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, the author alludes to where exactly he has situated Duckburg: " I won't bother to say precisely where I situated Duckburg and Calisota on America's west coast ... but if you get out a good map and compare the coastline, you'll see that I stuck the old gold-prospector's adopted hometown directly across the bay from a very appropriately named actual city.

Don Rosa has said that Scrooge had earned all the money in his bin by himself, but not only does the bin's size possibly contradict this idea, in Rosa's Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, he said that Scrooge was traveling around the world, starting businesses and having the money sent home.

To protect against these attempted break-ins, Scrooge has installed the greatest security system in the world to thwart any thought of even trying to intrude onto the premises.

In this story, the dime is so old that it has become thin as a razor blade and allows Scrooge to cut binding ropes and escape from the Beagle Boys.

In later stories, it is insinuated that the dime brings good luck to Scrooge and has helped him become a rich man, and in some stories he instantly starts losing money whenever the dime is no longer in his possession.

It is never made clear whether the dime actually brings good luck or if Scrooge merely believes in it so much that he is distressed and makes bad decisions whenever he no longer has the dime.

He immediately called the editor, Byron Erickson, and told him that he was the only American who was born to write and draw one Scrooge McDuck adventure.

Scrooge won, only to learn that 85 years of disuse made the mansion so fragile that he accidentally destroyed it with a sneeze.

He looks like Scrooge not only in appearance but also in temperament.

Scrooge may have claimed that he is the last McDuck, as he is the only male left.

Gyro made his first animated appearance on the Sport Goofy Soccermania television special with only one line of dialogue, voiced by Will Ryan: " Scrooge parting with a million dollars?

Not much else is known about the real Duke since he just made a cameo at the beginning of the last page and his only purpose in the story was cluing ( via his presence ) Scrooge to the fact he was dealing with an imposter.

His only " Christmas gift " is allowing his overworked, underpaid clerk Bob Cratchit Christmas Day off with pay-which he does only to keep with social custom, Scrooge considering it " a poor excuse for picking a man ’ s pocket every twenty-fifth of December!

Burt and Magica De Spell, who learned about this when she traveled in time to the day Scrooge earned the Dime, are the only other ones who know.

Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, and Gladstone Gander among many others think it is really a lucky charm, but Scrooge himself maintains it has only sentimental value.

Although the Beagle Boys are only shown very briefly on the last page of this story, it is implied that Scrooge has known about them for a long time.

The appearance in The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck was the only use of the character by Don Rosa.

Walt Disney's Comics and Stories, Uncle Scrooge, and Donald Duck Adventures were the only surviving titles.

His nephew however, has great regard for Christmas and we are introduced to him early in the story where he unsuccessfully attempts to invite Scrooge to his Christmas dinner party only to be rebuffed by Scrooge with a repeatedly said sentence: " Good afternoon.

After introducing Scrooge and showing his shabby treatment of his employee, business men, and only living relative, the novel resumes with Scrooge at his residence, intent on spending Christmas Eve alone.

Keno Don Hugo Rosa, known simply as Don Rosa, ( born June 29, 1951 ) is an American comic book writer and illustrator known for his stories about Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck and other Disney characters.

In 1995 he won the Eisner Award for " Best Serialized Story " for his 12-chapter work " The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck ".

Indeed, Scrooge had supported the castle financially for many years prior, enabling the McDuck family to reoccupy it in 1885.

Sir Donald McDuck is mentioned in " The History of The Clan McDuck " by Don Rosa, a chapter created for The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck though it never got a place in the story at the end.

In 1955, Porker's nephew, Horseshoe Hogg, and Scrooge McDuck would bring their uncles ' steamboats back to the surface to finish the race for Cornpone Gables.

While Scrooge was away Fergus and his family moved back to Castle McDuck, abandoned for centuries, in Dismal Downs.

The family continued to work to pay for the taxes and Scrooge sent them most all of the money he earned while traveling.

He is, however, hopeless at finding and identifying gold and often frustrates Scrooge by criticizing him for not being " McDuck-like " enough.

In that story, Scrooge returns to the McDuck Castle for another treasure and learns from Matilda that his family already knew about the treasure but their father Fergus decided not to tell Scrooge about it.

Both Scrooge and Matilda thought that was because of Fergus ' disapproval of Scrooge's greedy ways but after finding a letter on the way for the treasure ( hence the other title " A Letter from Home ") they learn Fergus's real motive was the fact he thought Scrooge would feel better building his own fortune instead of simply inheriting one.

Moocher McDuck is the beggar cousin of Scrooge who appeared for the first time in the story " Too Many McDucks " by Tony Strobl.

While being known for his dramatic roles, Finney appeared and sang in two musical films: Scrooge and the Hollywood film version of Annie, which was directed by John Huston, who would direct him once again in Under The Volcano two years later.

A third example showing a different version of metonymy is the fictional character Scrooge McDuck's " money bin " or indeed Scrooge himself, often used in Disney works and parody works as metonymous with wealth-most currency in the modern era is now stored electronically, but the money bin is still drawn in comics and persists as a pop culture metonym for any financial holding of great value.

His outrageous productivity is presented as a factor in the quality of his inventions ; because he always comes up with new ideas, the fact that his inventions often lack an important feature, will often cause trouble for Scrooge or Donald who have bought the invention.
