The Guardians intervene with the Black Lantern, Black Hand, charging him up with enough power to drain Green Lanterns Hal and Sinestro, which apparently kills them both.

For using the power of the Green Lantern to instill fear rather than combat it, the Guardians banished Sinestro to the antimatter universe, a counterpart to the " real " universe made up of " negative matter ".

However Hal used his ring to speed up a clock, making Sinestro think his ring had run out of power.

He had been involved in the lead up to " The Blackest Night ", being one of the first to deal with a new Star Sapphires member, and fought on Oa after the Guardian Scar caused a mass prison break of Sinestro Corpsmen.

He crashes his spaceship on Earth and sends his ring off to find a suitable replacement just before his death when Sinestro catches up to Abin Sur.

There he teams up with John Stewart who is under the subtle influence of Sinestro.

When Nekron is defeated, Larfleeze takes the ring from Luthor, leaving him powerless, and allows Luthor to remain on Earth with the Green Lanterns ( although Sinestro notes that this is the first time Larfleeze has given anyone anything ).

Armed with yellow Power Rings and Lanterns manufactured on Qward, the Sinestro Corps staged an attack on Oa, killing dozens of Green Lantern Corps officers, kidnapping Kyle Rayner, and freeing Superboy-Prime, Parallax, and the Cyborg Superman from the Corps ' supervision.

In the mist of the chaos, Sinestro gave Hal Jorden a temporary ring to help him out on missions, but the Guardians attacked them and both rings merged and became faulty and thought Sinestro and Jordan apparently dead so it went in search of a new Lantern, Simon Baz.

After Krona's death, the Guardians went into deliberation on the future of the Corps when Sinestro was chosen by a Green Lantern Power Ring.

With Kyle Rayner having rebelled against the Guardians to join the ' New Guardians ' a makeshift team consisting of representatives from all seven Corps, Hal Jordan's recent expulsion, and based on the ' recommendations ' of the now-emotionless Ganthet, the Guardians are preparing to create the ' Third Army ' to replace the Green Lantern Corps, which involves them recovering the mysterious ' First Lantern ' for an undefined role, prompting Sinestro, who learned about this prophecy after touching the Book of the Black, to enlist Hal's aid in stopping this scheme.

In the reality of Superman & Batman: Generations, the Guardians revealed that Alan Scott's power ring was actually a Green Lantern ring despite its apparent weakness to wood after Hal Jordan successfully harnessed it against Sinestro, realising that the ring actually had no weaknesses except what the user believed it possessed ; the Green Lantern Corps were vulnerable to yellow only because they believed the Guardians when they were told about this weakness, and Alan's ring's weakness to wood was caused when he was taken by surprise and struck on the back of the head with a wooden block during his first time using the ring.

Gibbons provided covers for three issues of writers Kurt Busiek and Fabian Nicieza's run on Action Comics ( issues # 841 – 843 ) and co-penciled ( with Ethan van Sciver ) the Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps issue as part of the Sinestro Corps story arc, inspired by a Green Lantern story written by Moore in the 1980s.

Later on, he relents and goes over the files and narrows it down, but he is then interrupted and killed by Sinestro, who ruptures his heart.

The Sinestro Corps is headquartered in the antimatter universe on Qward, in Sector-1.

All Qwardians now sport slave collars, put on them by Sinestro himself to assure their loyalty.

Sinestro was born on the planet Korugar in space sector 1417.

Through their mutual hatred of the Guardians, Sinestro and the Weaponers became allies, with the Weaponers offering to help Sinestro gain revenge on the Guardians and the Corps.

Sinestro tried to kidnap him using a device which could transport people to Qward and was able to imprison him in a yellow bubble by threatening to kill 100, 000 people who had been kidnapped with the device when he used it on a city Hal was supposed to be at.

However Green Lantern escaped and defeated Sinestro on Oa, who was placed in a green energy container which would orbit the Universe by the power of many Green Lanterns.

Before the Guardians took a leave of absence from their universe to attempt mating with their female counterparts, the Zamarons, they constructed an inescapable prison for Sinestro and thousands of others on Oa.

Now guilty of multiple acts of genocide, Sinestro was put on trial again by the assembled membership of the Green Lantern Corps.

When dealing with an artificial intelligence based on the dead son of its creator, Wonder Woman faced a duplicate of Sinestro created by the A. I.

This encounter was apparently erased from history when Hal, Kyle, and a Parallax-possessed older Hal Jordan worked together to send Hal and Parallax back to their proper place in time to ensure that a Hal Jordan was present with powers to defeat the Sun-Eater, Hal returning to his own time just before Kyle's arrival changed history and defeating Sinestro on his own

The Sinestro Corps War begins with an attack on Oa.

" They were able to create a yellow " power ring " for the villain Sinestro, a former Green Lantern who had been exiled to their Universe for using his power to take over his world.

By exiling Sinestro to a world ruled by evil beings who specifically hated him as a Green Lantern, the Guardians hoped to humble him.

Sinestro breaks free and must go back to his home world to see to family business.

For example, Countdown # 16 detailed that the Sinestro of Earth-51 has been murdered by the proactive Batman of his world in a crusade against its villains.

Countdown spin-off series Countdown Presents: Lord Havok and the Extremists depicted a version of Sinestro in its 3rd issue ( 2008 ) from an alternate world referred to as " Green Sinestro ", depicted as a part of the villainous Monarch's army.

Although he agrees to work with Earth's heroes, he is subsequently attacked by Sinestro, who reveals that he has learned of the prophecy of the " Flashpoint ", the moment when everything changes and the original world that existed before this one, during which it is revealed that Abin's home planet has been destroyed in this reality.

In the Green Lantern Corps story " Tygers ", by Alan Moore, Abin Sur is witness to a prophecy which states that among the gathered enemies to destroy the Green Lantern Corps would be the " Weaponers of Qward "; the Sinestro Corps War storyline is a partial fulfillment of that prophecy, later to be known as " The Blackest Night ".

He quickly gave his ring to Sinestro, just in time for Sinestro, who barely even understood what the ring could do, to defend himself from the Lantern's pursuer: a Weaponer of Qward ; however, Sinestro had to destroy the ruins he had spent loving care restoring in order to crush the Qwardian.

Pre-Crisis Sinestro first met Hal when he had already made an alliance with Qward.

Sinestro returns to Qward and joins the battle occurring there.

At the Sinestro Corps ' base on Qward, he reveals to Kyle that he was responsible for his mother's death and infected her with the sentient virus Despotellis to kill her in a plot to break Rayner's will so that he could serve as Parallax's new host.

Parallax returns to Qward with the Sinestro Corps and is inducted into their ranks, becoming one of the Anti-Monitor's heralds.

Henshaw's head is taken by the Sinestro Corps after their invasion of Oa to Qward.

Parallax then clothes itself in a new uniform ( which appears as a combination of Kyle's original Green Lantern costume and the costume Hal Jordan wore as Parallax ) and returns to Qward with the Sinestro Corps.

Sinestro is imprisoned in the antimatter universe, on the planet Qward.

When Parallax ( Kyle Rayner ) brought Hal Jordan to Qward, the entire Sinestro Corps attacked him.
