The works dealing with the Old Testament included Commentary on Samuel, Commentary on Genesis, Commentaries on Ezra and Nehemiah, On the Temple, On the Tabernacle, Commentaries on Tobit, Commentaries on Proverbs, Commentaries on the Song of Songs, Commentaries on the Canticle of Habakkuk, The works on Ezra, the Tabernacle and the Temple were especially influenced by Gregory the Great's writings.

A recording of Bill Anders, made during the Apollo 8 lunar orbit, on December 24, 1968, reading from the Bible ( Genesis, Chapter 1 ) is included on the first track (" In The Beginning ") of the Mike Oldfield album The Songs of Distant Earth, with verses repeated again in the second track (" Let There Be Light ").

In 2004 it was ranked number forty-five on Rolling Stones list of " The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time ", the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame included it in its unranked list 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll and in 2005, Uncut magazine ranked the first performance of " Heartbreak Hotel " in 1956 by Presley as the second greatest and most important cultural event of the rock and roll era.

Bridges wrote and also translated historic hymns, and many of these were included in Songs of Syon ( 1904 ) and the later English Hymnal ( 1906 ).

Songs in their set included " Boys in Blue " and " Assault & Battery ".

Stevie Wonder included a bonus four-song EP with his double LP Songs in the Key of Life in 1976.

Chicago and EWF once again toured together in 2005 and collaborated for a new recording of Chicago's ballad " If You Leave Me Now ", that was included on Chicago's 2005 compilation album Love Songs.

Poison were largely inactive in 2005 which is when Bret Michael's released his third solo album, the country-rock-influenced Freedom Of Sound, which included the single " All I Ever Needed " featuring Jessica Andrews, which also featured a music video and appeared on Billboard's " Hot Country Songs " chart, with its best position being number 45.

All of these except " Nothing's News " reached Number One on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Hot Country Singles & Tracks ( now Hot Country Songs ) chart, while " Nothing's News " reached # 3.

However, according to Alan Lomax, MacColl's source was probably Cecil Sharp's One Hundred English Folk Songs, published in 1916.
