The primary vision of this world-traveled guru Yogiraj Sri Swami Satchidananda ( 1914-2002 ) was interfaith understanding as a vehicle to world peace.

Ramai Swami started the first Hare Krishna Food for Life program in the world at the ISKCON temple in Sydney, Australia.

Jayapataka Swami is the world chairman for ' Food for Life ' and ISKCON's Food Relief Programs.

Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri of Seramphore in his 1894 book The Holy Science recalculated the traditional figures of the Yugas, explaining that from 1699 A. D. the world entered Dwapara Yuga, pointing to the Renaissance, growth of democracies, scientific and industrial revolutions as clear evidence for the change.

Bhakti Tirtha Swami met with prominent world figures such as Nelson Mandela and Zambia's president Kenneth Kaunda, was frequently interviewed in the media, wrote 17 books on religious topics and led community development projects in the United States and other countries.

As a religious leader, Bhakti-tirtha Swami made a friendship with celebrities and served as a spiritual consultant, specializing in international relations and conflict resolution to high-ranking members of the United Nations and world leaders, including former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela.

In 1993, he represented the Ramakrishna Order at the commemorative function organized by Council for a Parliament of the World ’ s Religions in Chicago ( and attended by 6500 people from all parts of the world ) to celebrate the centenary of Swami Vivekananda ’ s historic appearance at the World Parliament of Religions.

Today it has branches across the world, the headquarters being situated in Rishikesh. Also, many disciples of Swami Sivananda have started independent organizations in Mauritius, US, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, South Africa, South America, and Europe.

Swami Desikan left this material world in the year 1370 after living for 101 years.

Before leaving this world, he arranged for the continuance of the " Guru Parampara " by initiating his primary disciple, Brahmatantraswatantra Swami, and his son, Kumara Varada Desikan into the Acharya tradition, the many disciples of whom still continue the Ramanuja tradition through various ashrams and mutts.

Thus what were once espoused by the great philosophers of the likes of Swami Vivekananda are once again being exhorted by the modern day corporate world.

Meenachil Dharmasastha Temple, Idayattu Bala Ganapathy Temple, Poovarany Mahadeva Temple, Valavoor Mahadeva Temple, Idanadu Bhagavathy Temple, Anthinadu Mahadeva Temple, Vezhanganam Mahadeva Temple, Bharanaganam Sree Krishna Swami Temple, Alanadu Sree Krishna Swami Temple, Ponad Bhagavathy Temple and Sree Kurumbakkavu Devi Temple are the other important temples of this region.

Swami Vivekananda's lectures and writings, deriving their inspiration from the Indian spiritual tradition and the broad outlook of his Master Sri Ramakrishna, are a source of inspiration and have motivated numerous youth organizations, study circles, and service projects involving youth.

On the river banks of Krishna at Vijayawada, in an age-old temple of " Sri Durga Malleswar Swami " and on a hill called " Indra-Kila-Adri ", Dasara & Navratri are celebrated every year with great pomp & show and tens of thousands of people visit this temple during this time.

Ramakrishna Paramahamsa had sixteen disciples ( other than Swami Vivekananda ) who became monks of the Ramakrishna Order ; they are often considered his apostles.

Some other notable Bhojpuri personalities are legendary freedom fighter Swami Sahajanand Saraswati, first president of India Rajendra Prasad, Manoj Bajpai, and former Indian prime ministers Lal Bahadur Shastri and Chandra Shekhar.

The Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission are the two key organizations that direct the work of the Ramakrishna movement, a socio-religious movement influenced by 19th century saint Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and shaped by his chief disciple Swami Vivekananda.

The service activities are based on the message of " Jiva is Shiva " from Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda's message of " Daridra Narayana " to indicate that service to poor is service to God.
