On 1 May 2009 Fintan Drury, chairman of the OneVision consortium ( made up of the TV3 Group, Arqiva, Eircom and Setanta Sports ), announced that OneVision is to enter negotiations with the BCI, with the view to take over operations of the Irish pay DTT service.

On 14 September 2012 TV3 Group confirmed the new HD studios in Ballymount, Dublin will officially open in November 2012.

The new HD studios will be used for current programming with TV3 News and other shows permanently moving to the new studios.

TV3 has also confirmed its plan to build a major new studio in 2011 which will be fully HD capable with audience capacity.

On 15 August 2011 it was confirmed that TV3 would become the first official broadcaster to implement the new broadcasting terms.

TV3 have suggested a new Irish soap opera with a working title of Taylor Hill in an interview with The Irish Times Pat Kiely said “ It ’ s a big, big step for us into weekly drama .... Our intention, our aspiration, is to invest more in drama and, dare I say it, have our own Irish soap .”

TV3 are planning a new children's TV service called 3Kids, which will time share with 3Classics, both will launch towards the end of 2012.

One year later, TV3 inaugurated its new headquarters in Sant Joan Despí, near Barcelona.

VHF for TV transmission is slowly being phased out in Ireland – only RTÉ One and RTÉ Two are on VHF band III in some areas, and the more recently established stations ( TV3 and TG4 ) have only been broadcast on UHF.

Rival networks TV3 has offered NICAM stereo in all available regions since its launch in 1989 this is also the case with Prime TV.

Kaikoura receives analog service from three free-to-air stations ( TV ONE, TV2 and TV3 ).

In 2006 reality TV3 produced their second reality TV series.

TV3 is not known for vast amount of TV drama.

Along with the UK's X-factor TV3 will broadcast the US version of the TV show The X Factor US starting 8 September 2011.
