Wrocław is skirted on the south by the A4 motorway, which allows for a quick connection with Upper Silesia, Kraków and further east to the Ukraine, and Dresden and Berlin to the west.

Main road connections from the town include connection with Kraków ( to the east ) and Katowice ( to the west ) via the A4 highway or via the national road number 79.

The road infrastructure is good and the main highway connection is A4, connecting the Hungary border-crossing point in Goričan with Zagreb, as well as the coast of the Adriatic Sea via A1 / A6.

Aachen is connected to the Autobahn A4 ( West-East ), A44 ( North-South ) and A544 ( a smaller motorway from the A4 to the Europaplatz near the city centre ).

There is also a motorway from Zagreb to Rijeka, the A6, as well as the A4 motorway from Zagreb to the northeast ( Hungarian border ) as well as a motorway from Zagreb to the northwest ( Slovenian border ), the A2.

Chojnów is located west of Legnica, east from Bolesławiec and north of Złotoryja, from the A4 motorway.

A number of famous trains have been associated with King's Cross, such as the Flying Scotsman service to Edinburgh, and the Gresley A3 and later streamlined A4 Pacific steam locomotives, which handled express services from the 1930s until the early 1960s.

The A4 Great West Road, having left the historic A315 on the Chiswick – Brentford border, forms the southern border of Heston and then reaches Henlys Roundabout by Hounslow West from which two routes leave.

Overall, connectivity is best to downtown The Hague, especially since the beginning of the 21st century when the Noordelijke Randweg was completed, a regional road linking the A4 motorway to parts of The Hague, passing through Leidschendam.

As originally built, the A329 ( M ) continued to the junction with the A4, but this section has been since renamed the A3290.
