As of late 2005, the area once devoted to a live-action facsimile of Dogpatch ( including a lifesize statue in the town square of Dogpatch " founder ," General Jubilation T. Cornpone ) has been heavily stripped by vandals and souvenir hunters, and is today slowly being reclaimed by the surrounding Arkansas wilderness.

The General Survey Act of 1824, allowed a survey that established the western border of Arkansas Territory well inside the present state of Oklahoma, where the Choctaw and Cherokee tribes had previously begun to settle.

Two years later on December 6, 1875, the county's name was shortened to " Clay " by the Arkansas General Assembly ; though some sources say it was renamed for the legendary statesman Henry Clay, others say John M. Clayton remained its official namesake.

The point was commemorated in 1961 by the Arkansas General Assembly as part of Louisiana Purchase State Park.

Izard County is Arkansas's thirteenth county, formed on October 27, 1825, and named for War of 1812 General and Arkansas Territorial Governor George Izard.

On December 7, 1862, Union and Confederate forces clashed along the Arkansas River in and around the town of Van Buren resulting in a defeat for the Confederate army driving them south across the river with minimal casualties, however the Union forces captured 100 prisoners, as stated in a battle report by Samuel R. The highest-ranking Greens ever elected in the nation were: John Eder, a member of the Maine House of Representatives until his defeat in November 2006 ; Audie Bock, elected to the California State Assembly in 1999 but switched her registration to Independent seven months later running as an independent in the 2000 election ; and Richard Carroll, elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives in 2008 but switched parties to become a Democrat five months after his election.

The first U. S. Green elected to a state legislature was Audie Bock in 1999, to the California State Assembly, followed by John Eder to the Maine House of Representatives in 2002 and 2004 and Richard Carroll to the Arkansas House of Representatives in 2008.

Also, two graduates of Beebe High School are currently serving in the Arkansas General Assembly.

At a distance of only two counties away, Arkansas had already become the ninth state to secede, and on October 28, 1861 Governor Claiborne Fox Jackson met with the Missouri General Assembly in Neosho and declared Missouri as the twelfth state to join the Confederate States of America.

Two months later, several Oneness ministers met in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and on January 2, 1917, formed a Oneness Pentecostal organization called the General Assembly of the Apostolic Assemblies.

Jeremy and Timothy Hutchinson were the first identical twins to serve alongside each other in the Arkansas General Assembly, both as members of the Arkansas House.

His identical twin nephews, Jeremy and Timothy Hutchinson, sons of Tim Hutchinson, were the first twins to serve alongside each other in the Arkansas General Assembly, both as members of the House of Representatives.
