It borders the Town of Vestal, New York to the West via Vestal Avenue and the Town of Conklin, New York to the East via Conklin Avenue.

The Town of Conklin is on the south border of the county, southeast of Binghamton, New York.

The Town of Conklin was established in 1824 from the Town of Chenango by Nicholas Conklin ( 1782 – 1858 ).

In 1831, part of Conklin was used to form the Town of Windsor, but Conklin received territory from Windsor in 1851.

Another part of Conklin was used in 1859 to form the Town of Kirkwood.

It was anthologised by Groff Conklin in The Best of Science Fiction, the first of Asimov's stories to have been reprinted, and was later included in The Early Asimov ( in 1972, along with a very brief history of its origins ), The Asimov Chronicles in 1989 and in volume 2 of The Complete Stories in 1992.

The area was first settled by Captain Jacob Conklin after he was given a tract of land in what is now Wheatley Heights by his father, Timothy Conklin, about 1706.

In the Grip of Terror ( Permabooks, 1951 ) was an offbeat collection of horror tales, and he collaborated with Lucy Conklin on The Supernatural Reader in 1953, a year before her death.

The bible-reading Mrs. Conklin compared the new hamlet to the biblical city of Babylon and proposed that name in apparent defiance of the area's rather bawdy reputation as a stop-over place for travelers on Long Island's south shore.
