The Moro Province, in 1914 was replaced by the Department of Mindanao and Sulu.

In 1920, the Department of Mindanao and Sulu was officially dissolved and Zamboanga became an independent province and in 1922, elections were held for the first elected provincial officials of Zamboanga.

The Philippine Department assigned the Scouts to subdue the fierce and warlike Moro tribes on the island of Mindanao ( see Moro rebellion ), and to establish tranquility throughout the islands.

The name and status of Moro province soon changed to the Department of Mindanao and Sulu on August 16, 1916, that caused Zamboanga to become a province.

After 1914, the province was replaced by an American colonial agency called Department of Mindanao and Sulu, which spanned the entire Mindanao island except Lanao.

The municipality included the whole of Basilan Island and it remained as the capital of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu, with a civil government under an American civil governor, from 1913 up to 1920.

Basilan was then included in the Department of Mindanao and Sulu ( 1914 – 1920 ), a district of Zamboanga Province ( 1920 – 1936 ), and then of the Chartered City of Zamboanga ( 1936 – 1948 ), before it became a Chartered City on its own right at the beginning of the Philippine Republic.

In the political sphere, the management of Muslim affairs through the organization of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu in 1914 was unsuccessful, as leadership in the department fell in the hands of Christians.

John J. Pershing of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu decreed the separation of Dipolog from Dapitan.

When Bukidnon was declared as a regular province and become an independent political unit on March 10, 1917 by virtue of the creation of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu under Act 2711, Malaybalay was designated as its provincial capital.

On 9 January 1906 he was assigned as Commander of the Department of Mindanao and appointed Governor of the Moro Province.

As a mere municipality district then, the municipality of Talipao was transformed into a full-pledged Local Government Unit on July 1st 1957 under the provision of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu Administrative Code.

Because of these, the Department of Tourism named it one of the best visiting islands in Mindanao and now the fastest growing tourist destination in the country.

Libona was once a Municipal District of Maluko, now the Municipality of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, created under EO No. 5 dated April 4, 1917 issued by then acting Governor Ponciano C. Reyes of the defunct Department of Mindanao and Sulu.

In 1914, Sumilao was one of the communities created into municipal districts of Bukidnon pursuant to Executive Order No. 10 issued by Frank Carpenter, Governor of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu on August 15, 1914.

When the province of Sulu was created about a century ago, Tandubas was one of the Districts, an administrative sub-division of the then Department of Education under the Division of Sulu.

These publications replaced the U. S. Naval Medical Bulletin, published continuously from 1907 through 1959, as well as the Navy's Hospital Corps Quarterly and the Bulletin of the U. S. Army Medical Department, published from 1922 to 1949.

In January 1862, after many complaints of inefficiency and profiteering in the War Department, Lincoln replaced Simon Cameron with Edwin Stanton as War Secretary.

After the commissioners submitted their report to the Governor on November 25, 1896, the Legislature replaced the Bureau with the Department of Highways.

The Principal Private Secretary, Head of the Press and Publicity Department and Permanent Under-Secretary were all replaced.

The Lord Chancellor's Department was replaced with a Ministry of Justice and the Lord Chancellor currently serves in the position of Secretary of State for Justice.

The Department remained in existence until 1904, when it was replaced by the Central Criminal Intelligence Department ( CID ).

* December 12 – Charles Townshend, 2nd Viscount Townshend, is demoted from his office as Secretary of State for the Northern Department in the British government and replaced by James Stanhope, 1st Earl Stanhope.

Also, Honolulu Police Department Officer Duke Lukela ( played by Herman Wedemeyer ) joined the team as a regular, as did Ben Kokua ( played by Al Harrington ), who replaced Kono beginning with season five.

Education in Canada West was regulated by the province through the General Board of Education, in 1846, until 1850, when it was replaced by the Department of Public Instruction, until 1876.

Godolphin, Marlborough, and Harley, who had replaced Nottingham as Secretary of State for the Northern Department, formed a ruling " triumvirate ".

It replaced the cabinet-level Post Office Department with the independent Postal Service on July 1, 1971.

In 1968, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Security were amalgamated into the Department of Health and Social Security, the purpose of which was to coordinate benefits in cash with benefits in kind since “ the services needed to deal with social insecurity are not cash benefits only, but health and welfare as well .” An Act was passed which replaced National Assistance with Supplementary Benefits.

The GTC folded in 1774 and was replaced by the Royal Greenland Trade Department ( Kongelige Grønlandske Handel, KGH ), which recognized that the island possessed neither fertile farmland nor easily-accessible mineral wealth and that income would be dependent on the whaling and seal-hunting trade with the native Inuit.

* 1977 – Department of Energy Organization Act PL 95-91 ( Dismantled ERDA and replaced it with the Department of Energy )

In 1977, the U. S. Department of Energy replaced the Energy Administration and consolidated federal energy programs.

Sutherland replaced J. C. R. Licklider as the head of the US Defense Department Advanced Research Project Agency's Information Processing Techniques Office ( IPTO ), when Licklider returned to MIT in 1964 .< ref >

Also, in the same year, the hyobusho ( war office ) was replaced with a War Department and a Naval Department.
