Troi prompts the hologram to talk with Zimmerman, and as she does so, Troi and Barclay secretly fiddle with the Doctor's files, convincing him that his programming is failing and that only Zimmerman, his creator, can save him.

Zimmerman stabilises the Doctor's programming and begins making enhancements to his data files ; additions which the Doctor strenuously opposes, explaining that he is happy the way he is.

By this time TARDISes have evolved to point where they appear human and reproduce sexually ( the Doctor's companion Compassion is the first such TARDIS ).

The Doctor's personality mellowed around the time of the serial Marco Polo, and he evolved into the more familiar grandfatherly figure that children loved.

The Doctor's other aspects tell him Rassilon is manipulating him as a weapon against the creatures of the Divergent universe, as the creatures of the Divergent Universe would have evolved to surpass the Time Lords before Rassilon locked them away.

The unpredictability of the TARDIS's short-range guidance ( relative to the size of the Universe ) has often been a plot point in the Doctor's travels.

It passes the Doctor's Gate and follows the Lady Clough valley downhill to a point where Lady Clough meets the River Ashop, passing the Snake Pass Inn on the left.

" Although at this stage the question is primarily presented to make a plot point ( the Doctor's name is not Foreman ), the question is later asked for humorous effect many times in the series, and as a dramatic plot device beginning with the conclusion of " The Wedding of River Song ".

Her absence and the Doctor's pained estrangement from her proves a point of contention for the Doctor's series 3 companion Martha ( Freema Agyeman ); when Martha protects the Doctor, living as a human without his memories, it is still Rose that he dreams of.

This is also the point in the Doctor's life when he first learns about the Forge, as well as meeting Nimrod for the first time.

The Doctor's TARDIS was for most of the franchise's history said to have been stolen from the Time Lords ' home planet, Gallifrey, where it was old, decommissioned and derelict ( and, in fact, in a museum ).

Also in " The Doctor's Wife ", the TARDIS reveals that much of this " unpredictability " was actually intentional on her part in order to get the Doctor " where needed to go " as opposed to where he " wanted to go ".

* In the Doctor Who spin-off novel State of Change, the Sixth Doctor and Peri Brown meet and befriend an alternate version of Ptolmey in a timeline where Cleopatra and Anthony survived thanks to them acquiring a copy of the Doctor's TARDIS console, using the information in its databanks to develop modern technology and weapons centuries ahead of schedule.

The Monk eventually restored his ship and tracked the Doctor to a volcanic planet, where he attempted to maroon his enemy by destroying the Doctor's TARDIS's lock.

Though the three are briefly captured by the Countess, the Doctor helps them to escape and explore the Count's mansion, where they discover equipment by Dr. Kerensky to experiment with time, the source of the Doctor's time distortions.

Here, the Master escaped the Rani's TARDIS in The Mark of the Rani by splitting the console room from the rest of it, leaving the Rani adrift in a space-time bubble until she encountered a benign entity that created a distorted pocket reality where the Romans possessed 20th-century technology due to their access to the databanks of a duplicate of the Doctor's TARDIS console.

The Doctor's companion Bernice Summerfield was then reunited with Mycroft in the 2008 audio play The Adventure of the Diogenes Damsel where he was voiced by David Warner.

Cribbins again appears in the 2009 Christmas / New Years specials The End of Time where Wilfred Mott plays an important role in the Doctor's regeneration.

They also appear in the Eighth Doctor Adventures novel War of the Daleks by John Peel, which depicts them having become a warlike society willing to destroy an inhabited planet simply as part of a trap to defeat a Dalek attack fleet-although the Doctor's disgust at their actions lends some hope that they will begin to reconsider their stance -, and the Big Finish Productions audio plays The Mutant Phase, where their attempt to use a biological weapon against the Daleks nearly creates a monstrous insectoid race, and Brotherhood of the Daleks, where the Sixth Doctor discovers a Thal project to brainwash Daleks to act as ' sleeper agents ', only for the plan to fail when the Daleks ' true natures assert themselves.

The first evidence is shown through video footage, taken from the Matrix, of the Doctor's recent involvement in the planet Ravolox, where the Valeyard shows that the Doctor willingly became involved in the affairs of the planet.

He made two attempts in the television series to re-enter the positive matter universe, in The Three Doctors where he attempted to force the Doctor to take his place in the antimatter universe so that he could depart it, and in the serial Arc of Infinity where he attempted to create a new body for himself using the Doctor's biological data .< ref name =" bbcwebarc ">

The New Adventure Blood Heat ( 1993 ) by Jim Mortimore briefly depicts a parallel universe version of Harry serving on a nuclear submarine in a dystopian world ruled by the Silurians, where he manages to save the life of the Seventh Doctor's companion Bernice Summerfield.

He also appears in the novel Wolfsbane by Jacqueline Rayner, where he briefly aids the currently-amnesic Eighth Doctor in dealing with a plot involving a woman who believes herself to be the reincarnation of Morgan Le Fay in 1936 when the Fourth Doctor's TARDIS accidentally materialises there long enough for Harry to leave, having apparently been drawn off course by its damaged future self, although the Eighth Doctor's amnesia means that neither recognises the other despite Harry noting that the Doctor has a certain ' Doctorishness ' about him.

Meanwhile, Nyssa, after having been freed of the Master's control and Adric are abducted aboard the Doctor's TARDIS by the Watcher and taken far outside of the galaxy, where they observe a large section of the universe including the Traken Union consumed by entropy.

The Doctor's companions rush to the spot where he has fallen.

Brandt, in common with most of the defendants at the Doctor's Trial, was acquitted on the first count as the Tribunal felt that it fell outside their jurisdiction.
