Ben was killed during the assassination of Doctor Erskine, the man who would have created Captain America.

But Doctor Strange turns the Thing back into Ben Grimm, freeing him from the ray's control ; he frees the Invisible Woman as he begins turning back, who frees the Torch then the Thing, and the Torch frees Reed.

He is best known for his portrayals of Dr. Dick Richards on ABC's China Beach, the Emergency Medical Hologram ( EMH ), also known as The Doctor, on UPN's Star Trek: Voyager, The Cowboy in Innerspace, Coach Cutlip on The Wonder Years ( where he received an Emmy nomination ), Ben Wheeler in Wagons East, and as Richard Woolsey in the Canadian-American military science fiction television series Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe.

She-Thing was offered the chance to be human again by Doctor Doom while a then-powerless Ben Grimm chose to use one of Reed Richards machines to revert back to the Thing to save She-Thing.

Dodo goes with Polly, Brett's secretary, to the local Inferno nightclub, where they meet Able Seaman Ben Jackson, while the Doctor attends a Royal Scientific Club meeting about WOTAN, led by Sir Charles Summer.

Dodo, the Doctor, Ben and Polly leave for Sir Charles ' residence, where the Doctor has been invited to stay, in a taxi that drops off a tramp by the nightclub.

When Polly fails to show up to a luncheon with Ben, the Doctor sends the lad to investigate the area around the nightclub, after reading about the death of the tramp in the newspaper.

Ben and Polly meet the Doctor at the TARDIS, to explain that Dodo has decided to stay in London.

The Doctor thanks them and heads into the police box-followed by Ben and Polly, who enter the TARDIS with the intent to return Dodo's key, which the Doctor dropped earlier.

Upon arrival at the lighthouse, and after introducing themselves, the Doctor discovers the dead body of one of the keepers, Ben.

As the Doctor and Leela explore, something moves Ben ’ s body out of the lighthouse and onto the island, and they witness a curious electric crackling which seems to have killed fish nearby.

Harker and the Doctor retrieve Ben ’ s body and the Time Lord deduces it has been used as an anatomy lesson for an alien life form.

She finds a depressed Ben in the park ; her simple gesture of friendship instantly places her in mortal danger from Doctor Doom.

It is later revealed that this Carnage was cloned by Ben Reilly and Doctor Octopus as part of a government super-soldier program and later escaped after awakening prematurely.

He escapes, although seen yet not stopped by Polly, and alerts the Doctor and Sir Charles.

Jamie first appears in The Highlanders, encountering the Doctor, Ben and Polly in the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden in 1746.

At the end of the story, Polly suggests that the Doctor take Jamie along with them.

Jamie continues to travel with the Doctor even after Ben and Polly leave the TARDIS at the end of The Faceless Ones.

At the story's conclusion Polly ( who, with Ben Jackson, took Dodo's place as a companion ) explains to the departing Doctor that Dodo has decided to remain in the 20th Century.

Ben first appears in the First Doctor serial The War Machines, when he meets Polly and Dodo in a London nightclub called the Inferno.

Ben meets a divorced Polly again with the help of the Second Doctor in 1999 (" That Time I Nearly Destroyed The World Whilst Looking For a Dress " by Joseph Lidster, published in Short Trips: Past Tense ), where the two admit their love for each other.

He also agreed to attend Doctor Who conventions including the show's 20th anniversary celebrations at Longleat in 1983.
