Claims have been made for Manu Dibango's " Soul Makossa " ( 1972 ), Jerry Butler's " One Night Affair " ( 1972 ), the Hues Corporation's " Rock the Boat " ( 1973 ), George McCrae's " Rock Your Baby " ( 1974 ), and " Kung Fu Fighting " ( 1974 ) by Biddu and Carl Douglas.

TK Records is closely associated with soul / R & B and the early rise of disco music, being the label on which the second bona fide disco song ( after The Hues Corporation's " Rock The Boat ") to reach # 1 on the pop music charts was released, " Rock Your Baby " by George McCrae in 1974.

After the success of " Rock the Boat ," the Hues Corporation's other charted singles on the Billboard Hot 100 included " Rockin ' Soul " ( 1974, # 18 ), " Love Corporation " ( 1975, # 62 ), and " I Caught Your Act " ( 1977, # 92 ).

Rags to Rufus was released in 1974 and two of its singles — the Stevie Wonder-penned " Tell Me Something Good " and the Parker-Khan composition, " You Got the Love " — became smash hits leading to Rags to Rufus going platinum and also landed them opening spots for the tours of several top stars including ( Stevie Wonder, Cheech and Chong and the Hues Corporation.

Jeremy Ryder was " Jack Hues ", Nick Feldman was " Nick DeSpig ", and Darren Costin was " Darren Darwin " ( and later, just " Darwin ").

" Jack Hues ", incidentally, is a play on the French term " j ' accuse ".

In March 2005, Wang Chung ( once again consisting of Hues and Feldman ) contributed " Akasha ", a previously unreleased song, to the " Of Hands and Hearts compilation ", in response to the 2004 Southeast Asia tsunami crisis.

The Latin text calls him simply Hugo de Paganis, but the French translation, dated to c. 1200, describes him as Hues de Paiens delez Troies (" Hugh of Payens near Troyes "), a reference to the village of Payns, about 10 km from Troyes, in Champagne ( eastern France ).
