The Colts, however, were stunned by the Jets who won the game 16 – 7 in the first Super Bowl victory for the young AFL.

This continued into 2010 when the Colts would only compile a 10 – 6 record, the first time the Colts did not win 12 games since 2002, and lose to the New York Jets in the wild card round of the playoffs.

The two teams met twice a year ( interrupted in 1982 by a player strike ) 1970 – 2001 ; with the move of the Colts to the AFC South the two teams ' rivalry actually escalated, as they met three times in the playoffs in the South's first nine seasons of existence ; the Jets crushed the Colts 41 – 0 in the 2002 Wild Card playoff round ; the Colts then defeated the Jets 30 – 17 in the 2009 AFC Championship Game ; but the next year in the Wild Card round the Jets pulled off another playoff upset of the Colts, winning 17 – 16 ; it was Peyton Manning's final playoff game with the Colts.

Shula was a former Paul Brown disciple who had been lured from the Baltimore Colts after first losing Super Bowl III two seasons earlier to the AFL's New York Jets and finishing 8 – 5 – 1 the following season.

There were also five teams which the Texans had never beaten: the Baltimore Ravens ( 0-5 in regular season, 0-1 in playoffs ), Minnesota Vikings ( 0-2 ), New York Jets ( 0-5 ), Philadelphia Eagles ( 0-3 ) and San Diego Chargers ( 0-4 ).

The New York Jets previously maintained a high tension rivalry against their in-town counterparts, the New York Giants, that has since diminished due to the infrequency with which the teams meet in the regular season.

The Jets met the Giants in 1988 during the final game of the regular season.

There was a brief period between 2000 and 2003 when the rivalry was renewed due to regular season games each year and playoff meetings that saw the Raiders remove the Jets from contention.

Though regular season meetings have been infrequent since then, the teams have met two more times in the playoffs, including in 2009 when the Colts and Jets met in the AFC Championship Game.

Since the two teams play each other so infrequently in the regular season, some, including players on both teams, have questioned whether the Giants and Jets have a real rivalry.

A memorable regular season game was in 1988, when the Giants faced off against the Jets in the last game of the season, needing a victory to make the playoffs.

A different scenario unfolded during the penultimate regular season game of 2011 as the " visiting " Giants defeated the Jets 29 – 14.

The Screaming Jets have the unenviable title of the " Kings of the Sticky Carpet " regarding the volume of gigs performed in venues ( pubs ) which had carpet floors that had alcohol, sweat and vomit spilt over it on a regular basis.

The Raiders, led by head coach John Rauch, had stormed to the top of the AFL with a 13 – 1 regular season record ( their only defeat was an October 7 loss to the New York Jets, 27 – 14 ), and went on to crush the Houston Oilers, 40 – 7, in the AFL Championship game.

Davidson was an extremely effective pass rusher who had demonstrated his aggressiveness in a regular season game against the New York Jets by breaking the jaw of Jets quarterback Joe Namath while sacking him.

Brent Musburger hosted all the events with the help of then-ABC Sports analyst Dick Vermeil, Musburger's regular color commentator on ABC's college football telecasts, and then-New York Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason.

Perhaps Doan's most memorable moment as a Jet was his seventh and final goal as a Jet which came on April 12th, 1996 during the teams last regular season home game against the Los Angeles Kings, where he scored the game-winning goal in the second period for Winnipeg to make the score 4-2, the game would finish 5-3, and the win clinched a playoff spot for the Jets.

During the same season Newcastle won 30 of their 40 regular season league fixtures to clinch the League Championship crown-the previous season saw the Eagles win 31 matches but lose out to Chester Jets in the final week, by just two points.

Several bands who have signed with Jade Tree have released moderately successful albums which saw regular radio play, including Alkaline Trio, Pedro the Lion, Jets to Brazil, and Joan of Arc.

Calgary went on to defeat the Nordiques, who had finished 18-points ahead of Calgary in the regular season, but were defeated by the Winnipeg Jets in the second round.

One of the most notorious occurred on November 17, 1985, when the New York Jets defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 62-28 in a regular season game.
