The first store in Maryland opened in Darnestown on October 31, 2006 ; the second opened in May 2008 in Columbia's Village of Kings Contrivance, replacing the closed Safeway.

Kings Contrivance is one of the 10 villages in the planned community of Columbia, Maryland, and is home to about 11, 000 residents.

There are many scenic and recreational parks in and around Kings Contrivance, including Gorman Park, Huntington Neighborhood Park, and Savage Park, all of which are maintained by Howard County Recreation and Parks and the Columbia Association.

Many trails weave in and around the neighborhoods of Kings Contrivance, providing access to the county parks, as well as to Columbia's extensive bike / hiking trail system.

Amherst House, the location of the Kings Contrivance Community Association, is also in the village center.

The Parkwood pool and skating rink complex, the Village Green and sections of Kings Point Park are managed by the Great Neck Park District.

The Village of Great Neck is protected by the Nassau County Police Department's Sixth Precinct, as is the rest of Great Neck except for the villages of Great Neck Estates, Kings Point, Kensington and Lake Success.

California Highway 28 completes the circuit from Tahoe City around the northern shore to communities such as Kings Beach, Crystal Bay, and into Incline Village, Nevada where the road becomes Nevada Highway 28.

Before it was incorporated into the City of Brooklyn in 1894, Flatbush described both the Town of Flatbush, incorporating a large swath of central Kings County extending east to the Queens County border, and the Village of Flatbush, formerly the heart of the current community.

In the 18th century, The Kings Road went through Old Fordham Village, an area of rural estates and small farms, linking Colonial New York and towns and villages north toward Boston.

In pre-revolutionary Kings County, Bedford, which now forms the heart of the community, was the first major settlement east of the then Village of Brooklyn on the ferry road to the neighborhood of Jamaica and eastern Long Island.

Nearby cities and towns include: Tahoe Vista, Brockway, Kings Beach, Crystal Bay, Incline Village, Truckee, Tahoma, Homewood, and Tahoe City.

In 2002, the Kings held a jersey retirement ceremony and erected a life-sized statue of Gretzky outside the Staples Center ; the ceremony was delayed until then so that Bruce McNall, who had recently finished a prison sentence, could attend.

The club's home games are played at Staples Center, an arena shared with the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA, the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association ( WNBA ), and the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League ( NHL ).

In 1999, the Clippers joined the Lakers and Los Angeles Kings in the new Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles.

The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, which they share with their local NBA rival, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL, and the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA.

The Staples Center is also home to fellow NBA team Los Angeles Clippers, the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks, and the NHL's Los Angeles Kings.

In 2002, Cartman became the main protagonist of a series of promotional videos for the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL, which are played on the big-screen TVs inside of Staples Center where the character ridicules the mascots of rival teams and reacts to various aspects of the game.

The Kings Art Center was opened in 1989 to be the premier visual arts gallery and art training center of Kings County.

The building served as the county's courthouse until 1976 when it was replaced by the new Kings County Government Center on West Lacey Boulevard.

The schools in the district ( with 2009-10 enrollment data from the National Center for Education Statistics ) are Jeffrey Clark School, located on Quaker Road, had an enrollment of 462 students Grades K-2 and the Samuel Mickle School, located on Kings Highway, served 499 students in Grades 3-6.

Its tranquility prompted it to be the site of the Kings Park Psychiatric Center instead of New York City.

The Kings Park Psychiatric Center was built by Kings County ( before becoming part of New York City ) in 1885 after Dr. Oliver Dewing's successful campaign to develop a hospital for the mentally ill on an plot of land.

Mason is home to the Kings Island Amusement Park, and one of the largest tennis stadiums in the world, the Lindner Family Tennis Center, home of the Western & Southern Open.

Area attractions and local businesses include Kings Island amusement park, Great Wolf Lodge hotel / indoor water park, Procter & Gamble's Mason Business Center, the headquarters of Luxottica Retail, Cintas corporate headquarters, and the Lindner Family Tennis Center which hosts the historic Cincinnati Masters tennis tournament.

Bure underwent back surgery following the 2003 – 04 NHL season, and never played a game for the Los Angeles Kings after signing with them on August 12, 2005.

Recently the Trail of the Kings section of the Zoo underwent an inspection with the outcome that the gorilla enclosure was too small.

Kings Copse Primary School recently underwent a complete rebuild and opened in September 2008 as a state-of-the-art school.

In 1959, the Kings House Hotel underwent its first 20th century modernisation.
