The Kliq ( sometimes spelled as Clique ) was a backstage group in the World Wrestling Federation ( WWF, now WWE ) during the mid 1990s, composed of Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Sean Waltman, and Triple H. In 1996, The Kliq broke character at a house show at Madison Square Garden in an incident referred to as the " Curtain Call ", an event that affected the WWF's subsequent storylines and development.

The Kliq was also the primary catalyst for two of the most controversial stables in wrestling history: the New World Order ( nWo ) in World Championship Wrestling ( WCW ) and the WWF / E, and D-Generation X ( DX ) in the WWF / E.

Of the Kliq, Michaels and Waltman would serve in both groups, though Waltman was a member when both were in separate companies while Michaels was in the nWo when they formed in WWE ; Triple H was a member of DX while Nash and Hall performed with the nWo.

Michaels claims that the name " The Kliq " was originally coined by Lex Luger, due to the closeness of the five friends backstage.

Expanding upon a legit injury, Michaels was booked to forfeit the title to Douglas ( sparing Michaels having to put Douglas over ), but then Douglas had to lose it to fellow Kliq member Scott Hall ( Razor Ramon ).

Triple H | Paul Levesque was the sole member of The Kliq punished for the MSG incident.

Bob Holly was also said to have been close to many of The Kliq as was Savio Vega who was paired up with Hall as a travel partner when he first arrived in the WWF, while Albert, Test and William Regal were all close friends with either X-Pac or Triple-H during their time with WWE.

Nash was a member of The Kliq, a group which included Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman.

Hall and Nash were both good friends and part of the backstage wrestling group known as " The Kliq ", which was eventually used as part of their gimmick.

In October 1995, The Kliq complained about a decision to let Shane Douglas ( wrestling as Dean Douglas ) win the WWF Intercontinental Championship from Michaels at In Your House 4: Great White North.

Her current link to The Kliq is unclear, with the details of her split from Triple-H in 2000 never made public.

D-Generation X traveled from the WWF show in Hampton to The Scope in Norfolk and shouted insults against WCW through a bullhorn, as well as mentioning the fact that WCW gave out free tickets to fill up arenas for television while sporting black armbands with the acronym POWCW ( Prisoner of WCW ), which referenced Kliq members Scott Hall and Kevin Nash.

After the match, Diesel, Michaels, Razor Ramon, and Hunter Hearst Helmsley, a group of off-screen friends known collectively as " The Kliq ", hugged one another in the ring and wished each other farewell.
