Of six novels published as " Infocom Books " by Avon Books between 1989 – 1991, four were directly based on Zork: The Zork Chronicles by George Alec Effinger ( 1990 ), The Lost City of Zork by Robin W. Bailey ( 1991 ), Wishbringer by Craig Shaw Gardner and Enchanter, also by Bailey.
Regardless of this lapse in quality control, The Lost Treasures of Infocom sold well.
The success of the original Lost Treasures of Infocom prompted a follow-up collection published in 1992 and appropriately titled The Lost Treasures of Infocom II.
Beyond Zork was one of 20 Infocom games bundled in the 1991 compilation The Lost Treasures of Infocom published by Activision.
