From Coolangatta, approximately forty kilometres of holiday resorts and surfing beaches stretch north to the suburb of Main Beach, and then further on Stradbroke Island.

Route 35 continues north through Bay Head, becoming Main Avenue, then enters Point Pleasant Beach, a beach resort with a boardwalk that is home to Jenkinson's Aquarium, where the route swings to the west and turns north onto another one-way pair with two lanes in each direction — the northbound direction following Cincinnati Avenue and the southbound direction following Richmond Avenue.

Two major parks run by the park district are Veterans Acres, along Walkup Road, and Main Beach, along the namesake Crystal Lake.

Betterton Beach is located at the foot of Main Street.

On summer nights, residents and visitors can congregate on the large deck at Main Street Beach to watch boats sail back and forth in front of the Lake Erie sunset and watch the Mystic Belle, a small paddle wheeler, offering rides on the Vermilion River.

Stanley is famous for its two beaches: Stanley Main Beach, located on the eastern side of the peninsular, and St. Stephen's Beach, on the western side.

The larger of the two beaches-Stanley Main Beach, which is also popular with windsurfers and other watersport enthusiasts, hosts the Stanley Dragon Boat Championships each year in June to celebrate the Tuen Ng Festival.
