The 1946 town meeting voted to have the Selectmen appoint a committee to investigate and report on the feasibility of some system of sewage disposal and a disposal plant to serve Manchester Center, Depot, and Way's Lane.

In 1879 the same Clark Wait, with H. H. Holley of South Dorset, formed the `` American Telegraph Line '', extending from Manchester Depot via Factory Point and South Dorset to Dorset.

The first known telephone line in Manchester was established in July 1883 between Burr and Manley's store at Manchester Depot and the Kent and Root Marble Company in South Dorset.

In November 1887 a line connecting several dwelling houses in Dorset was extended to Manchester Depot.

Eber L. Taylor of Manchester Depot recorded the setting of phone poles in East Dorset and Barnumville in his diary for 1906.

The latter now furnishes the area with electricity distributed from a modern sub-station at Manchester Depot which was put into operation February 19, 1930 and was improved in January 1942 by the installation of larger transformers.

They had been linked in 1873 by their allocation to the 16th Sub-district Brigade Depot in Ashton-under-Lyne, near to Manchester.

Landmarks on Princess Road are the Royal Brewery and the Princess Road Bus Depot, built originally for the tramways in 1909 and used by Stagecoach Manchester until 2010.

83009 had previously been used at Longsight in Manchester to convert the 25 kV AC supply to 1500V DC to allow testing of the Manchester-Glossop-Hadfield units following the closure of Reddish Depot.

A plan to house Eurostar trains at Manchester International Depot was abandoned.

In 2012 the former boiler-shop remains in use, as the Hammerstone Road Depot of Manchester City Council.

In 1918 the New England Telephone Company began erecting a building to house its operations on the corner of U. S. Rte. 7 and what is now Memorial Avenue at Manchester Center.

Service running through Barnumville and to Bennington County towns east of the mountains was in the hands of the `` Gleason Telephone Company '' in 1925, but major supervision of telephone lines in Manchester was with the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company, which eventually gained all control.

The next step was construction by the Manchester Light and Power Company of a plant on the west bank of the Battenkill south of Union Street bridge.

For a time following the abandonment of the local plant, electric current for Manchester was brought in from the south with an emergency tie-in with the Vermont Marble Company system to the north.

Levi Strauss & Co. began manufacturing the famous Levi's brand of jeans, using fabric from the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company in Manchester, New Hampshire.

The United Kingdom premiere took place at the Theatre Royal in Manchester, on 22 April 1897, in a presentation by the Carl Rosa Opera Company supervised by Puccini.

Roe and Company was established at Brownsfield Mill, Great Ancoats Street, Manchester, by Alliott Verdon Roe and his brother Humphrey Verdon Roe on 1 January 1910.

In 1924, the Company left Alexandra Park Aerodrome in south Manchester where test flying had taken place during the period since 1918 and the site was taken over by a mixture of recreation and housing development.

Barker failed to get into the Young Vic School, but joined the Manchester Repertory Company, which was based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, often taking comic roles in their weekly shows.

The Manchester Repertory Company closed, as did the Rhyl company shortly after.

“ B ” Company was mostly Clay County men and those along the river toward Manchester, KY. “ C ” Company in ­ cluded volunteers from the southern part of Jackson with McKee men serving as officers.

Following Blodgett's suggestion, Derryfield was renamed Manchester in 1810, the year the mill was incorporated as the Amoskeag Cotton & Woolen Manufacturing Company.

In 1884 with £ 20 of savings he entered a partnership with Ernest Claremont, a friend who contributed £ 50, and they started a business making domestic electric fittings in a workshop in Cooke Street, Hulme, Manchester called F H Royce and Company.

In 1824, Hackworth occupied a temporary position as a " borrowed man " or relief manager at the Forth Street factory of Robert Stephenson and Company, whilst Robert was away in South America and George was occupied with the surveying of new railways, notably the Liverpool and Manchester.

The Haçienda, Factory Records ' own nightclub ( largely funded by New Order ) opened in May 1982 in Manchester and was even issued a Factory catalogue number: FAC51.

The King having obtained an opinion in favour of the legality of the writ from Lord Keeper Coventry and the Earl of Manchester, the writ was issued in October 1634 and directed to the justices of London and other seaports, requiring them to provide a certain number of ships of war of a prescribed tonnage and equipment, or their equivalent in money, and empowering them to assess the inhabitants for payment of the tax according to their substance.

After a meeting with the Prime Minister, Manchester City Council issued a press release on 24 July 2007 stating that " contrary to some reports the door is not closed to a regional casino ".

In September 2011 the club vice chairman, David Brewster issued a fax to Manchester City offering to take Argentinian International, Carlos Tevez on loan after the player had refused to go on as a substitute in a Champions League fixture.

An nationalist and militarist, opposed to the Manchester school of politicians, Richards issued in 1848, in the form of a letter addressed to Richard Cobden, a denunciation of the " peace-at-any-price party ", under the title of Cobden and his Pamphlet considered.

Section 25 played the FAC251 club in Manchester on 20 November 2010, and in 2011 issued their first new release without Larry Cassidy, a download-only EP titled " Invicta " EP, via Hacienda Records.
