The Danish band Mercyful Fate influenced the Norwegian scene with their imagery and lyrics.

: Garage Days Re-Revisited was a collection of covers paying homage to a number of mostly obscure bands, which were later combined with additional new covers on the double album Garage Inc., which among other things included covers of Black Sabbath (" Sabbra Cadabra "), Bob Seger (" Turn the Page "), Blue Öyster Cult (" Astronomy "), Mercyful Fate ( a medley of different songs of the band ), and numerous Motörhead tracks.

Mercyful Fate was a Danish heavy metal band from Copenhagen.

Mercyful Fate was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1981 from the remaining members of Hank Shermann's band Brats and King Diamond's band Black Rose.

Soon, Shermann, Denner, Diamond, and Denner's bass player Timi " Grabber " Hansen realized their potential as a unit and started performing as Mercyful Fate.

In early 1982, Mercyful Fate contributed to the Ebony Records sampler Metallic Storm.

Later on in the year, the band recorded their first material, The Mercyful Fate EP, on vinyl for the Dutch label Rave On.

Mercyful Fate disbanded shortly after.

Diamond's new venture continued the tradition of Mercyful Fate, but with a more progressive, conceptual twist to it.

Mercyful Fate reformed in July 1992 and signed a contract with Brian Slagel's Metal Blade Records.

The album featured a re-recording of " Return of the Vampire ", with Metallica drummer, Mercyful Fate enthusiast and fellow Dane Lars Ulrich playing on the track.

Following the release of 9, King Diamond put Mercyful Fate on hold and continued his solo career.

Shermann, Denner, Holm and ( King Diamond Bass player ) Hal Patino formed Force of Evil, which incorporates many of the themes of the original Mercyful Fate.

In a March 2008 interview, King Diamond stated that Mercyful Fate is currently " hibernating ", but had never split up.

Metallica themselves cite the band as an influence and even recorded a medley of their songs simply titled " Mercyful Fate " on their cover album Garage Inc .).

Asked in June 2010 what are upcoming plans for Mercyful Fate, guitarist Hank Shermann replied, " We have a DVD coming out with the early years, likely sometimes in early 2011!

I'm sure we'll record a new Mercyful Fate album in the future ; we just need to get the timeframe framed and then some patience.

On December 7, 2011, the original members of Mercyful Fate ( King Diamond, Hank Shermann, Michael Denner and Timi Hansen ) reunited on stage at Metallica's 30th Anniversary performance at the Fillmore in San Francisco, California, where they performed a medley of their songs.

Denner and Shermann are the original twin guitars from these classic Mercyful Fate recordings: Nuns Have No Fun, Melissa, Don't Break The Oath, In the Shadows, Time and Into the Unknown.

There was also " Love Criminals ", which is actually the first song Mercyful Fate ever wrote, available for the first time on this album under the title " Into the Coven ", which was originally meant to be the title of the album too.

Vocalist Araya asserts Venom, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Mercyful Fate were a big influence on the record, as guitarist King was into the Satanic image.

Musically, the album features the band's most progressive and diverse work compared to their previous releases, and according to Kerry King, he and Jeff Hanneman were very into Mercyful Fate at the time, which then led to the longer and more progressive songs.

Famous Danish rock and metal musicians include Lars Ulrich, the drummer and co-founder of Metallica, Mike Tramp, the vocalist and co-songwriter of White Lion, and Kim Bendix Petersen, aka King Diamond, vocalist of Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate and the eponymous King Diamond.

The band made its live debuts in local clubs and in California and had the opportunity to play with bands such as Megadeth, Armored Saint, Alcatrazz, Malice, Exciter, Mercyful Fate, Riot, Autograph.

All songs were restored and mastered by Mike Wead ( King Diamond / Mercyful Fate ) and was released by small Dutch independent label Vic Records.
