Harald Fairhair or Harald Finehair ( Old Norse: Haraldr hárfagri, Norwegian: Harald Hårfagre ), ( c. 850 – c. 932 ), son of Halfdan the Black, was the first king ( 872 – 930 ) of Norway.

Since discovery by humans, numerous species have been introduced to the island, some deliberately, like the casurina, the feral pig, the Cardinal ( Cardinalis cardinalis ), anoles, ladybird beetles, and the Kiskadee, some incidentally, like the Norwegian rat ( Rattus norvegicus ) and the Black Rat ( Rattus rattus ), and the others accidentally, like the scale mites, and the brown widow spider ( Latrodectus geometricus ).

The compositions " Gyroscope " and " You Could Feel the Sky " were used in the Norwegian Black Metal documentary Until The Light Takes Us.

At a later date the name Black Hammer was decided upon as a partial translation of the Norwegian phrase " Sort Hammer.

Knud Olson Bergo, who was living just across the town line in Spring Grove, on getting up one morning, saw that a fire had swept over the prairie in the south part of the town ... It's charred appearance at once suggested to his mind a certain bluff located in Slidre Valders, Norway, which was Mr. Bergo's birthplace, and so he exclaiming in Norwegian, " Sort Hammer ," which signifies Black Bluff, and the people have had the good sense to retain the name to this day, which, it will be perceived, is composed of an English and a Norwegian word.

Bathory's 1984 first album, Bathory, and the subsequent releases The Return ( 1985 ) and Under the Sign of the Black Mark ( 1987 ), are now regarded as major influences on the Norwegian bands which extended black metal's musical progression and popularity in the beginning of the 1990s.

The song " Solitude " was covered by UK doom metal band Cathedral as a bonus track for the European version of the 1994 Black Sabbath tribute album Nativity in Black, and later by Norwegian group Ulver on their 2007 album Shadows of the Sun.
