Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte ( Black Forest cake, made with cherries ) is probably the most well-known example of a wide variety of typically German tortes filled with whipped or butter cream.

The first is from Father Franz Steyrer, written in his " Geschichte der Schwarzwälder Uhrmacherkunst " ( History of Clockmaking in the Black Forest ) in 1796.

With regard to this chronicle, the historian Adolf Kistner claimed in his book " Die Schwarzwälder Uhr " ( The Black Forest Clock ) published in 1927, that there is not any Bohemian cuckoo clock in existence to verify the thesis that this clock was used as a sample to copy and produce Black Forest cuckoo clocks.

It is used in traditional German Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte ( Black Forest cake, which is believed to have originated in the 16th century ) and in other cakes — for example in Gugelhupf cake.

German statutory interpretation states Kirschwasser as a mandatory ingredient, otherwise the cake is legally not allowed to be marketed as Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte.

The cake is named not directly after the Black Forest ( Schwarzwald ) mountain range in southwestern Germany but rather from the specialty liquor of that region, known as Schwarzwälder Kirsch ( wasser ) and distilled from tart cherries.

In small popular restaurants are famous desserts of the Colonia, such as strudels, gugelhupf, cakes and churros and / or meat with cream, the traditionals Kaiserschmarrn, Germknödel, Apfelstrudel and Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, known in English such as Black Forest cake, along with charcuterie and specialties including the famous German sausages.

That year he published Schwarzwälder Dorfgeschichten ( Black Forest Village Stories ; 1843 ) which was his first great success, widely translated, and expressing with a sympathetic realism the memories and scenes of youth.

Black Forest gâteau ( British English ) and Black Forest cake ( American English and Australian English ) are the English names for the German dessert Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (), literally " Black Forest cherry torte ".

The confectioner Josef Keller ( 1887 – 1981 ) claimed to have invented Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte in its present form in 1915 at the then prominent Café Agner in Bad Godesberg, now a suburb of Bonn about 500 km north of the Black Forest.

Many of the hills are no higher than 400 m. There are several chains of higher peaks within the Hunsrück, all bearing names on their own: the ( Schwarzwälder ) Hochwald, the Idarwald, the Soonwald, and the Binger Wald.

Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte was first mentioned in writing in 1934.

In 1949 it took 13th place in a list of best-known German cakes, and since that time Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte has become world-renowned.

The East Side Gallery is an open-air exhibition of art painted directly on the last existing portions of the Berlin Wall.

The second important type of building that survives all over the Hellenic world is the open-air theatre, with the earliest dating from around 350 BC.

An amphitheatre ( or amphitheater ) is an open-air venue used for entertainment and performances.

A term for such open-air slaughterhouse is a shambles.

The city is also a center for the automotive trade, with European brands being sold from vast open-air parking lots.

The Taltsy Museum (), located on the Angara South of Irkutsk, is an open-air museum of Siberian traditional architecture.

Near the main square is a clock, decorated with dragons, which is now an open-air theatre site and art and craft stores and the Tashi supermarket.

The more recent Glastonbury Festival of Performing Arts, founded in 1970, is now the largest open-air music and performing arts festival in the world.
