Modern Megiddo is a town approximately west-southwest of the southern tip of the Sea of Galilee in the Kishon River area.

It is here that the Upper Jordan River / Sea of Galilee / Lower Jordan River water system comes to an end.

The region in turn gave the English name " Sea of Galilee " to the Kinneret ( Numbers 34: 11, etc.

Its eastern border is the Sea of Galilee and the mountains of the Golan Heights.

The River Jordan begins here and flows southward through Lake Hula into the Sea of Galilee in Israel, then continues south through the Jordan Rift Valley into the Dead Sea on the Israeli-Jordanian border.
