It is known also as Jugendstil,, German for " youth style ", named after the magazine Jugend, which promoted it, as Modern ( Модерн ) in Russia, perhaps named after Parisian gallery " La Maison Moderne ", as Secession in Austria-Hungary and its successor states after the Viennese group of artists, and, in Italy, as Stile Liberty from the department store in London, Liberty & Co., which popularised the style.

In Austria, a localised form of Art Nouveau was practised by artists of the Vienna Secession, and it is, therefore, known as the Sezessionstil (" Secession style ").

Alma's lively social interactions in her youth included friendships with the artists of the Vienna Secession, among them Gustav Klimt.

Around 1900, Vienna became a centre of the Jugendstil ( Art Nouveau ), most of all with Otto Wagner and the association of artists known as Vienna Secession ( after which the characteristic building on Karlsplatz is named ).

Art Nouveau, also known as Liberty in Italy, started to develop in the city during the years before the Great War ; alongside other major Italian cities, most notably Palermo and Turin, this particular style became highly popular, producing several notable buildings in the city, developing its own, individual style known as " Liberty Milanese " ( Milanese Art Nouveau ), which, in many aspects, shares many traits with Vienna Secession.

In prose, the work of the modernist generation was only now coming into its own, but the different stylistic waves that affected their prose are also evident in the work of the new generation — naturalism ( A. M Tilšchová ); impressionism ( Šrámek, Gellner, Jiří Mahen, Jan Opolský, Rudolf Těsnohlídek ); the Vienna Secession ( Růžena Svobodová, Jan Karásek ).

Art Deco, De Stijl, Bauhaus, Wiener Werkstätte, and Vienna Secession designers all worked to some degree within the Modernist idiom.

Widely exhibited in Europe, the Arts and Crafts style's simplicity inspired designers like Henry van de Velde and styles such as Art Nouveau, the Dutch De Stijl group, Vienna Secession, and eventually the Bauhaus style.

After her father's death ( 1892 ), her mother married her late husband's former pupil Carl Moll, who was a co-founder of the Vienna Secession.

Unlike the more prestigious and traditional Academy of Fine Art in Vienna, Kunstgewerbeschule was dominated by instructors of the Vienna Secession.

The group's most prominent members early on were Heinrich Lefler and Joseph Urban, who had originally worked and exhibited within the conservative Vienna Künstlerhaus, but now, like the Vienna Secession, rebelled against the establishment and formed their own organization.

There were, however, also moves towards reunion, beginning with the unification of some secessionist churches into the United Secession Church in 1820, which united with the Relief Church in 1847 to form the United Presbyterian Church, which in turn joined with the Free Church in 1900 to form the United Free Church of Scotland.

Schwitters was to come into contact with Herwarth Walden after exhibiting expressionist paintings at the Hanover Secession in February 1918.

The artist is represented with drawings at the exhibitions of the annual Berlin Secession in the years 1901 through 1903.

He spent a brief time between 1906-1907 as a member of the revolutionary expressionist group Die Brücke ( The Bridge ), and as a member of the Berlin Secession in 1908-1910, but he eventually left or was expelled from both of these groups – foreshadowing of the difficulty Nolde had maintaining relationships with the organizations to which he belonged.

He also introduced Schiele to the Wiener Werkstätte, the arts and crafts workshop connected with the Secession.

In 1909, Hulme left the Poets ' Club and started meeting with Flint and other poets in a new group which Hulme referred to as the " Secession Club "; they met at the Eiffel Tower restaurant in London's Soho to discuss plans to reform contemporary poetry through free verse and the tanka and haiku and the removal of all unnecessary verbiage from poems.

Secession movements have surfaced several times in Western Australia ( WA ), where a 1933 referendum for secession from the Federation of Australia passed with a two-thirds majority.

Secession ( the setup of entirely new legislative and executive entities ) is advocated by certain urban theorists, notably Jane Jacobs, as the only way to deal politically with these vast differences in culture between modern cities and even their nearest suburbs and essential watersheds.

Many successful examples of Art Nouveau, with notable regional variations, were built in France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Austria ( the Vienna Secession ), Hungary, Bohemia and Latvia.

In 1905 he made his first exhibit with the Secession Group in Vienna, noticeably influenced with the Art Nouveau style.

Kuyper, ( although at first antagonistic towards them ), soon began to seek union with the churches of the Secession of 1834, the Christelijke Gereformeerde Kerken ( Christian Reformed Church ).

It sided with the rebels during the Secession Wars and fought loyalist New Scotland until both had lost nearly all their technology.

After being escorted to Union lines in March 1862, Brownlow toured the North, stirring up support for East Tennessee Unionists and publishing books and articles, including Sketches of the Rise, Progress, and Decline of Secession ; with a Narrative of Personal Adventures Among the Rebels ( Philadelphia: George W.
