Marvel has also had many large crossover events which depicted an alternative universe, many springing from events in the X-Men books, such as Days of Future Past, the seminal Age Of Apocalypse, and 2006's House Of M. In addition the Squadron Supreme is a DC inspired Marvel Universe that has been used several times, often crossing over into the mainstream Universe in the Avengers comic.

Roy Thomas and penciller John Buscema created an alternate-universe team of heroes called the Squadron Supreme, who debut in Avengers # 85 ( Feb. 1971 ).

The characters including the Whizzer, whose name is Stanley Stewart, were identical in name and appearance to the Squadron Sinister, which caused confusion in Marvel's production department, as the covers of The Avengers # 85 and # 141 ( Nov. 1975 ) " cover-blurbed " appearances by the Squadron Sinister, when in fact it was the Squadron Supreme that appeared in both issues.

The heroic Whizzer and the Squadron Supreme have another series of skirmishes with the Avengers engineered by the group the Serpent Cartel, but eventually team together and prevent the use of the artifact the Serpent Crown.

The character features with the Squadron Supreme in a self-titled 12-issue miniseries ( Sept. 1985-Aug. 1986 ) by writer Mark Gruenwald.

The series also explains why there are the Squadrons Sinister and Supreme are similar: the Grandmaster creates the Squadron Sinister modelled on the already-existing Squadron Supreme of the Earth-712 universe.

The entire Squadron Supreme appear in a two-part story with the Avengers that finally returns them to their home universe, where they disband for a time.

The Squadron Supreme is a fictional superhero team that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics.

The Squadron Supreme first appeared in Avengers # 85 – 86 ( February – March 1971 ) and were created by Roy Thomas and John Buscema.

The core members of the Squadron Supreme include: Hyperion, Nighthawk, Doctor Spectrum, Power Princess, and the Whizzer.

The Squadron Supreme are first encountered by four members of the team the Avengers — the Vision, Quicksilver, the Scarlet Witch and Goliath — who have arrived in the Earth-712 universe by mistake.

The Avengers are initially confused as several members of the Squadron Supreme have identical names and powers to the Squadron Sinister, a group of previously encountered villains.

Although this was a deliberate choice by writer Roy Thomas, it created confusion in Marvel's production department, as the covers of Avengers # 85 and # 141 ( Nov. 1975 ) claimed the issues featured appearances by the Squadron Sinister, when in fact it was the Squadron Supreme that appeared in both issues.

Wedge appears towards the end of A New Hope as " Red Two ," an X-Wing pilot and a member of Red Squadron along with Luke Skywalker.

Wedge appears in The Empire Strikes Back as a member of the newly formed Rogue Squadron.

Wedge appears towards the end of Return of the Jedi as the leader of Red Squadron in the Battle of Endor.

The A-wing is also flyable in Battlefront II and the Rogue Squadron series, and it appears in other LucasArts Star Wars titles such as Empire at War.

The Squadron Supreme is a fictional superhero team that appears in publications under the mature-audience MAX imprint by Marvel Comics.

He appears in a well-known photograph usually used to illustrate the badge of the Greek Sacred Squadron.

General Grievous also appears as a playable character in Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron, released for the PlayStation Portable ( PSP ) and Nintendo DS on November 3, 2009.

He also appears as Admiral of the Gibraltar Squadron in " Master and Commander " and also as Admiral of the Baltic Fleet in " The Surgeon's Mate ", books from Patrick O ' Brian's Aubrey – Maturin series.

Power Princess ( alongside the Squadron Supreme ) appears in The Super Hero Squad Show episode " Whom Continuity Would Destroy " voiced by Susan Eisenberg.

The " modern " Squadron of Justice appears in one storyline, in Justice League of America # 135-137 in the 1970s.

In Ultimate Power, Thor appears alongside the rest of the new Ultimates alongside Nick Fury arriving to battle the Squadron Supreme when they destroy the roof of the Baxter Building.

The character first appears as the Whizzer – a member of the team the Squadron Sinister – in the final panel of Avengers # 69 ( Oct .. 1969 ) and was created by Roy Thomas and Sal Buscema.

Formally the Airframe Reconditioning Squadron RNZAF, the unit was commercialised in 1998 and is now managed by SAFE Air Ltd. No. 1 Repair Depot was also active at the base for a number of years, though during the war it appears to have been stationed at Hamilton.

The commander of Cooler's Armored Squadron, Salza, also appears in Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn.

In September 2010, No. 6 Squadron RAF was the first squadron at RAF Leuchars to be reformed operating the Eurofighter Typhoon ; Typhoons from the squadron performed a QRA scramble on Sunday 2 January 2011.

In 2011, with the closure of RAF Lyneham and the transfer of the RAF's Hercules force to Brize Norton, it was announced that No. 10 Squadron would be reformed in 2012 as the first operator of the new Airbus Voyager due to enter service in late 2011.

It has taken over the role of Quick Reaction Alert for the north of the United Kingdom from No. 111 Squadron RAF, the RAF's last Panavia Tornado F3 squadron, in March 2011.

In response to this, a supporters club, the Flying Squadron, was established in late 2011.

In 2011, as part of the Strategic Defence and Security Review, it was announced that from December 2011, the CBRN role undertaken by the Joint CBRN Regiment, a combined Army / RAF unit, would be transferred to the RAF Regiment ( as lead service ) under the new Defence CBRN Wing, formed from 26 Squadron, 27 Squadron and 2623 ( Auxiliary ) Squadron.
