Animal head from St Ninian's Isle Treasure

The uninhabited islands include Mousa, known for the Broch of Mousa, the finest preserved example in Scotland of these Iron Age round towers, St Ninian's Isle connected to Mainland by the largest active tombolo in the UK, and Out Stack, the northernmost point of the British Isles.

There are dedications to St. Ninian in East Donegal and Belfast ; and a spot formerly on the shore of Belfast Lough was traditionally known as St. Ninian's point, where the missionary reputedly landed after a voyage from Scotland.

St. Ninian's Cathedral is located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

In 1800 Bowdler took a lease on a country estate at St Boniface, on the Isle of Wight, where he lived for ten years.

In 1758 the Fortress of Louisbourg falls and all of the civilian population of Isle Royal ( Cape Breton Island ) and Isle St. Jean ( Prince Edward Island ) are repatriated to France.

During the Second World War, the Battle of the St. Lawrence involved a number of submarine and anti-submarine actions throughout the lower St. Lawrence River and the entire Gulf of Saint Lawrence, Strait of Belle Isle and Cabot Strait from May to October 1942, September 1943, and again in October and November 1944.

The Water Newton Treasure is a hoard of Christian silver church plate from the early 4th century and the Roman villas at Lullingstone and Hinton St Mary contained Christian wall paintings and mosaics respectively.

The fabled 1715 Spanish treasure fleet sank off the area that is now St. Lucie County, leading to the regional naming of the area as the Treasure Coast.

The building also incorporates a low tower ( now housing St Mark ’ s Treasure ), believed by some to have been part of the original Doge's Palace.

The St Ninian's Isle Treasure was discovered under a cross-marked slab in the floor of the early St. Ninian's church, on the 4th of July 1958 by a local schoolboy, Douglas Coutts.
