In recent years Anna Xydis has played with the New York Philharmonic and at Lewisohn Stadium, but her program last night at Town Hall was the Greek-born pianist's first New York recital since 1948.

Also, in Remember the Titans, there were many scenes shot on " The Square " and the final football scene in was shot at Homer Sharp Stadium, which is located right off " The Square " in downtown Covington.

Key locations included Dodger Stadium ( on the opening scene where Brian tests his Eclipse on the parking lot ), Angelino Heights, Silver Lake and Echo Park ( the neighborhoods around Toretto's home ), as well as Little Saigon ( where Tran destroys the Eclipse ) and the San Bernardino International Airport ( the venue for Race Wars, which attracted over 1, 500 import car owners and enthusiasts ).

According to an anecdote recorded at the Internet Movie Database web page on The Odd Couple, the scene was actually filmed just prior to the start of a regular game at Shea Stadium on June 27, 1967.

There was a notable scene in the east of England with all-nighters at the St. Ivo Centre in St. Ives, the Phoenix Soul club at the Wirrina Stadium in Peterborough and the Howard Mallett in Cambridge.

With the famous facade, the short right field porch and Monument Park, Yankee Stadium has been home to many of baseball's greatest players including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Reggie Jackson, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Alex Rodriguez.

* 1939 – Lou Gehrig, recently diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, tells a crowd at Yankee Stadium that he considers himself " The luckiest man on the face of the earth " as he announces his retirement from major league baseball.

Mantle's monument in Monument Park ( Yankee Stadium ) | Monument Park. On Mickey Mantle Day, June 8, 1969, in addition to the retirement of his uniform Number 7, Mantle was given a plaque that would hang on the center field wall at Yankee Stadium, near the monuments to Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Miller Huggins.

A year later, at Lou Gehrig Day at Yankee Stadium, an older Billy ( David Holt ) finds Gehrig and shows him that he has made a full recovery, inspired by his hero's example and the two-homer fulfilled promise.

Lou Gehrig's speech at Yankee Stadium on July 4, 1939 was not reproduced verbatim in the film ; the script condensed and reorganized Gehrig's actual spontaneous and unprepared remarks, and moved the iconic " luckiest man " line from the beginning to the end for heightened dramatic effect.

* June 1 – The first heavyweight boxing match is televised, Max Baer vs Lou Nova, from Yankee Stadium.

Some of these events include: Lou Gehrig's " Luckiest Man Alive " Speech ( July 4, 1939 ); Babe Ruth's " Final Visit to Yankee Stadium " ( June 11, 1948 ); Joe Louis vs. Max Schmeling heavyweight title bout ( June 19, 1936, Schmeling won ), the 1958 NFL Championship between the New York Giants and the Baltimore Colts and Muhammad Ali's title defense against Ken Norton ( Sept. 28, 1976 ).

McCarthy struggled to control his emotions at the moving testimonial held for Lou Gehrig at Yankee Stadium on July 4, 1939.

On April 15, 1954, the Yankees dedicated a plaque to Barrow, which first hung on the center field wall at Yankee Stadium, near the flagpole and the monuments to Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Miller Huggins.

At the first Outside Broadcast show on 12 August 1992 at Giants Stadium, Lou Reed performed " Satellite of Love " with the band ; he and Bono dueted using their contrasting vocal styles.
