From the early to mid 1830s and particularly through the epoch years 1846 – 1869 the Oregon Trail and its many offshoots were used by about 400, 000 settlers, ranchers, farmers, miners, and businessmen and their families.

Thousands of travelers on the combined California Oregon and Mormon Trail succumbed to cholera in the 1849 – 1855 time period.

Over 16, 000 Cherokee were forcibly relocated westward to Indian Territory in 1838 – 1839, a migration known as the Trail of Tears or in Cherokee or ( The Trail Where They Cried ), although it is described by another word ( The Removal ).

Red Cloud's War ( 1866 – 1868 ) was a challenge by the Lakota Sioux to the United States military presence on the Bozeman Trail, a route along the eastern edge of the Big Horn Mountains to the Montana gold fields.

General Henry Knox passed through the town in January 1776, bringing cannons from Fort Ticonderoga in New York to aid in ending the Siege of Boston, a route now known as the Knox Trail.

From about 1776 to the mid-1850s the Old Spanish Trail came up from Santa Fe, New Mexico, crossed the Colorado River at Moab, over the Green River where Green River City now stands, across the San Rafael desert into Castle Valley, then crossed along the eastern part of the town.

S. policy ), or to the Five Tribes described above, to the route of the land march specifically, or to specific marches in which the remaining holdouts from each area were rounded up.

The Barlow Road was the first established land path for U. S. settlers through the Cascade Range in 1845, and formed the final overland link for the Oregon Trail ( previously, settlers had to raft down the treacherous rapids of the Columbia River ).

During the 1840s and 1850s it was the destination for those wanting to file land claims after traveling the Oregon Trail as the last stop on the trail.

About a third of the size of downtown Calgary, the land overlooks the Bow River valley and covers east of Shaganappi Trail between 16th Avenue ( TransCanada Highway ) and 32 Avenue N. W.

In 1964, the Stampede Board made plans to purchase former military land in southwest Calgary near Glenmore Trail and 24 Street and relocate the park there.

The Lake Tahoe Watershed ( USGS Huc 18100200 ) of includes the land area that drains to the lake and the Lake Tahoe drainage divide traverses the same general area as the Tahoe Rim Trail.
