Though the most widely used map of " The Tube ," it preserves little of reality: it varies scale constantly and abruptly, it straightens curved tracks, and it contorts directions.

TfL's Tube map and " roundel " logo are instantly recognisable by any Londoner, almost any Briton and many people around the world.

Hutchison, though not a designer himself, drafted his own version of the Tube map that year.
