Van Morrison, OBE ( born George Ivan Morrison ; 31 August 1945 ) is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter and musician.
Known as " Van the Man " to his fans, Morrison started his professional career when, as a teenager in the late 1950s, he played a variety of instruments including guitar, harmonica, keyboards and saxophone for various Irish showbands covering the popular hits of the day.

It is the first film of Van Sant's " Death Trilogy ", three films based on deaths that occurred in real life, and is succeeded by Elephant and Last Days.
In 2005 Van Sant released Last Days, the final component of what he refers to as his " Death Trilogy ," ( the other parts being Gerry and Elephant ).
Elephant is the second film in Van Sant's " Death Trilogy "the first being Gerry ( 2002 ) and the third being Last Days ( 2005 ) — in which all three are based on actual events.
