The school was founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar in 1919 as a merger of the Grand Ducal School of Arts and Crafts and the Weimar Academy of Fine Art.

The youngest son of William Edward Parkinson ( 1871 – 1927 ), an art master at North East County School and from 1913 principal of York School of Arts and Crafts, and his wife, Rose Emily Mary Curnow ( born 1877 ), the young Parkinson attended St. Peter's School, York, where in 1929 he won an Exhibition to study history at Emmanuel College at the University of Cambridge.

The establishment of funding for the Gaelic College of Celtic Arts and Crafts and formal Gaelic language courses in public schools are intended to address the near-loss of this culture to English assimilation.

The Butler Yeats family were highly artistic ; his brother Jack became an esteemed painter, while his sisters Elizabeth and Susan Mary — known to family and friends as Lollie and Lily — became involved in the Arts and Crafts Movement.

Mayfest Arts Fair is a free outdoor festival that takes place annually over Mother's Day weekend.

" It is important to establish a relationship between the European exhibitions that I have mentioned and the Ponce Fair, as the Fair was meant as a showcase of the advancements of the day: Agriculture, Trade, Industry, and the Arts.

A Juried Fine Arts and Fine Crafts Fair which coincides with The Michigan Brown Trout Festival.

This festival has its roots in the Fair Grove Arts and Crafts Festival which started in 1978.

It is also the home of Texas ' Official State Arts & Crafts Fair, the Kerrville Folk Festival, H-E-B Grocery Stores, Mooney Airplane Company, James Avery Jewelry, Kerrville Bus Company, and Schreiner University.

Kerrville is home to the annual Texas State Arts and Crafts Fair which features artisans and entertainers from around the state.

Hugh Borde also led the National Steel Band of Trinidad & Tobago at the Commonwealth Arts Festival in England, as well as the Esso Tripoli Steel Band, who played at the World ’ s Fair in Montreal, Canada, and later toured with Liberace and were also featured on an album with him.

Other traditional festivals held at the city are the Infant Theater Festival in April ; the Festival del Camarón in July ; the Arts Craft Fair in September ; and the National Festival of the Puerto Rican Pastel in November.
