Several years after the initial construction was completed, Truman O. Angell was brought in to further improve the building's acoustics, and was responsible for adding the gallery ( balcony ) in 1870 that resolved the outstanding acoustical issues.

Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, a suburb of Atlanta, offers a five-year professional undergraduate degree and also hosts lectures and exhibits works in the architecture building's gallery space.

The building's facilities were increased from 84, 000 to 125, 000 square feet in order to include a large outdoor gallery, a dramatic entryway, and a two-story project space.

" Two of the building's most notable architectural features function to both problematize and undermine the institutionalized boundaries, both tangible and intangible, that often exists between art organizations and the public: the first floor of the building includes " five metal garage-style doors that open up to the main gallery from the sidewalk ," thus extending the gallery space into the street and allowing the public to enter the Art Center easily and at will ; and the second floor features " a 10x80 foot glass facade ... outfitted with a system of high range projectors, computers, scrims and screens used primarily to show large-scale digital artworks ," that can be viewed from both inside and outside the Art Center.

The building's rotunda hosts many events, from art exhibits to public gatherings.

* The building's plaza hosts Ronald Bladen's monumental 1973 work titled " Vroom, Shhh.

The film gives various firemen's accounts of the events of the remainder of the day, from the initial crash to the building's collapse to the attempts to rescue survivors from the rubble, as well as the aftermath of the events, and those who were lost, including Chief Pfeifer's brother, Engine 33 Lieutenant Kevin Pfeifer.

The building's two ground floor businesses-a delicatessen and a chemist ( later to become a winebar )-along with a nearby launderette, provided venues for the various characters to meet.

To enhance the building's seismic performance, a proper building design is performed engaging various seismic vibration control technologies.

Included among the building's many rooms are the famous debating chamber, a dining room, bar, snooker room, the Keynes Library and various offices.

The landing at the top of the ramp is located in the core of the building and leads to various studios and exhibition spaces seen through glass windows and doors, providing views into the building's instructional and displaying functions without interrupting the activities in progress.

Since then, the Citytv signage at the front building was replaced with an eTalk logo ; the Citytv logos on the landmark mural behind the Virgin Mobile at Much store were replaced and overhauled with various logos of Bell Media's co-owned television channels, as well as the logo for CTV's entertainment news program eTalk shown one dish ; and the main Citytv signage on the building's east façade was replaced with a CTV logo and a private balcony, looking out from the company's boardroom.

The building's east side ( called the County Building ) is devoted to the various offices of Cook County.

The building's most obvious feature on the skyline is its sloped roof, which hides various communications equipment.

The building's primary tenant is a set of barristers ' chambers, which have been in occupation in various parts since 1965.

Outrigger trusses at the top of the building and at the various setbacks help to stiffen the building's reinforced concrete core against the strong winds prevalent in the area.

The building's various owners sought to tear it down and were prevented because of its historical value.

From the living room, the characters could exit through various doors or passages, supposedly leading to the building's hallway, a bathroom, the kitchen, a bedroom ( Cassandra's ), and an imaginary vestibule ( never seen ) with access to two other bedrooms ( Vavá's and Caco's and Magda's ), but there were no sets for those places, and all the action took place in the living room alone.

UMG and its various operations occupy more than half the building's office space.

The basement of the old U. S. Mint contains artifacts and photographs from the era 1838 – 1909, and is the part of the museum devoted exclusively to the building's function in that capacity.

There are some galleries of historical artifacts on the building's main floor, principally battle standards of Civil War units.

Each building contains a collection of artifacts relating to the building's former use.

In her later years, she also visited the Empire State Building frequently, once visiting in 1991 as a guest of honor at the building's 60th anniversary, and also in May 2004, which was among her last public appearances.

In June 2012, it reopened to visitors after a major two-year restoration project which restored and improved the building ’ s historic spaces, increased accessibility, and brought the building's aging infrastructure and facilities up to date.

The building's exterior uses Pennsylvania Blue Marble, which, due to the manner in which it was cut, has begun to deteriorate from the exposure to the elements of weak parts of the stone.

This is distinct from a material's insulative value, which reduces a building's thermal conductivity, allowing it to be heated or cooled relatively separate from the outside, or even just retain the occupants ' thermal energy longer.

The building's exterior is dominated by heavy flying buttresses which allowed the architects to increase the window size significantly, while the west end is dominated by two contrasting spires – a 105-metre ( 349 ft ) plain pyramid dating from the 1140s and a 113-metre ( 377 ft ) early 16th century Flamboyant spire on top of an older tower.

Two giant statues, dating from the Middle Kingdom, originally adorned the building's facade, which opened to the west.

Woolner created a large number of statues depicting lawgivers and rulers which formed part of the building's structure.

Sweeney oversaw the last half dozen years of the construction of the museum building, during which time he had an antagonistic relationship with Frank Lloyd Wright, especially regarding the building's lighting issues.

The rich decoration of the façade of the Palau, which incorporates elements from many sources, including traditional Spanish and Arabic architecture, is successfully married with the building's structure.

Stevens then reused the building's scheme, while reducing its size by two-fifths, to become The Bay of Naples Inn at Naples, Maine, which opened in 1899.

According to a filmed interview with her which was released in 2003, she had moved from New York City only when she was told her rented loft / workspace / studio would be no longer available because of the building's imminent demolition.

From the building's initial construction until late 2009 there were 2 large freight lifts at which point another was added.

On November 28, 1942, this club was the scene of the deadliest nightclub fire in US history, killing 492 people ( which in itself was 32 more than the building's authorized capacity ) and injuring hundreds more.

There are ancient archways visible on the lower ground floor ; supposedly remnants from a monastery which occupied the site prior to the building's construction.

The first such theater, the Cooper Theater, built in Denver, featured a 146-degree louvered screen ( measuring 105 feet by 35 feet ), 814 seats, courtesy lounges on the sides of the theatre for relaxation during intermission ( including concessions and smoking facilities ), and a ceiling which routed air and heating through small vent slots in order to inhibit noise from the building's ventilation equipment.

The results of this reconstruction can still be seen on the building's exterior today – the dome was rebuilt using Irish Ardbraccan limestone which is noticeably darker than the Portland stone used in the original construction.

The retail space in the building's " cowcatcher " at the " prow " was leased by United Cigar Stores, and the building's vast cellar, which extended into the vaults that went more than under the surrounding streets, was occupied by the Flatiron Restaurant, which could seat 1, 500 patrons and was open from breakfast through late supper for those taking in a performance at one of the many theatres which lined Broadway between 14th and 23rd Streets.
