In certain cases, extensive " feeder canals " were built to bring water from sources located far from the canal.

Ruislip Lido was built as a feeder reservoir for the canal, but was eventually disconnected and changed to become a recreational lido.

Delta Lake, also called Delta Reservoir, in partly in the southeast part of the town, created in 1911 as a feeder for the NY barge canal by flooding the Village of Delta.
