Other than sidings at " Lairport " ( along the eastern edge of Los Angeles International Airport next to Aviation Boulevard at 120th Street ), " Ironsides " in Torrance and the line's longest siding at the Alcoa plant, also in Torrance, the Harbor Sub is completely single-track without signals, compensated with track warrant control via a local dispatcher.

An extraordinary event occurred at Dingle station on 13 June 1940, after the line's closure to passengers.

The Los Angeles-to-San Diego portion of the Pacific Surfliner route was once served by the Santa Fe's San Diegan passenger trains ( see " Operations " below ) until Amtrak took over the route in the 1970s keeping the " San Diegan " moniker until the Pacific Surfliner name was bestowed on the route on June 1, 2000, as part of a new marketing campaign ( and short-lived new casual-style uniforms for crew ) reflecting the line's more frequent service north of Los Angeles and new bi-level cars with unique livery manufactured by Alstom that replaced Horizon cars, bi-level California Cars manufactured by Morrison-Knudson, and the Amfleet cars previously assigned to the route.

The same locomotive returned to operate the line's steam services in June and July 2007, although Battle of Britain class 34067 Tangmere also visited this year, operating some scheduled trains and hauling the first steam charter from Dereham ( to London Liverpool Street ), on 5 May.

The decrease of costs allowed a reduction of ticket prices, but the line was still under threat until in June 1969 it was decided that the line's closure would result in significant hardship, and so a grant was allocated to ensure continued services.

The line's newest station is Liverpool South Parkway which opened in June 2006 after its estimated construction cost of £ 16 million had doubled to £ 32 million by the time it was completed.

From the opening of Line 14 until 25 June 2007, this station functioned as the line's southern terminus.

To be built in 6. 5 years at an estimated cost of 26 billion yen, this will increase the line's capacity from 18 to 24 trains per hour and lay the groundwork for a long-mooted extension to Shimbashi Station.

The first test train operated over the line on 24 November 1997, and the line's first major event was the Royal Easter Show in April 1998.

Misha Black was appointed design consultant for the 1960s Victoria Line, contributing to the line's uniform look, while the 1990s extension of the Jubilee line featured stations designed by leading architects such as Norman Foster, Michael Hopkins, Will Alsop and Ian Ritchie.

A blood knot ( Barrel knot ) is most usefully employed for joining sections of monofilament nylon line while maintaining a high portion of the line's inherent strength.

The accident caused a temporary closure of the route while the line's safety was investigated.

Additionally, Adventures of Superman returned to its original title of Superman, while the book that had previously been coming out as Superman since 1987 was canceled, thus making the Superman line's two books, Superman and Action Comics, match the Batman lines Batman and Detective Comics ( in addition to the shared title Batman and Superman.

The line's predecessor, the Middletown and Unionville Railroad ( M & U ), relied on the nearby New York, Ontario and Western ( O & W ) shops for locomotive repairs and inspections and rented fifty-six different O & W locomotives in thirteen classes while its own was in the O & W shops.

Binder wrote more than half of Fawcett's various Captain Marvel comic book stories over the 12 years of that line's existence ; while working for DC, he introduced numerous characters and storyline elements to the Superman series, including the Legion of Super-Heroes, Krypto the dog, Supergirl, and the Phantom Zone.

To relieve this pressure, the network-wide New Works Programme, 1935-1940 included the construction of new sections of tunnel between the Bakerloo line's platforms at Baker Street and Finchley Road and the replacement of three Metropolitan line stations ( Lord's, Marlborough Road and Swiss Cottage ) between those points with two new Bakerloo stations ( St. John's Wood and Swiss Cottage ).

That station was closed in 1992 as part of NICTD's effort to consolidate the line's Porter County stations.

The line's two terminus stations are on a single track.

At the time of the line's opening, stations were provided at Pendre and Abergynolwyn.

On 20 November 1939, following the construction of an additional southbound platform and connecting tube tunnels between Baker Street and Finchley Road stations, the Bakerloo line took over the Metropolitan line's stopping services between Finchley Road and Wembley Park and its Stanmore branch.

Thirteen of the line's stations are shared with the Orange Line, and another portion is also shared by the Yellow Line ; only eight stations are exclusive to the Blue Line.

Half of the line's stations are shared with the Blue Line, and over two thirds will be shared with the Silver Line.

The station did not appear on the original plans to extend the Piccadilly line beyond Finsbury Park, which only provided for seven additional stations, however it served as the line's terminus for a brief period before Cockfosters station was opened.

With the nearby GNR built stations at Alexandra Palace and Hornsey providing a more direct route to central London, the catchment areas for the line's stations were always fairly small and the opening in 1932 of the first section of the Piccadilly Line extension to Cockfosters with stations at Wood Green and Turnpike Lane diminished them further, crucially eroding the line's passenger traffic.

In 2004 the stations at Bedale, Finghall and Redmire were also reopened and Scruton is scheduled to re-open in 2013 ( co-inciding with the 10th anniversary of the preserved line's re-opening ).

In between the stations the work included installing new tracks set in concrete ; putting fencing along the line's right-of-way and closing some street crossings ; and installing overhead catenary designed for higher speeds.

The median strip of the freeway north of Mandogalup also houses the Mandurah railway line, with all the line's stations north of and including Cockburn Central also built on the strip.

The line's seven stations had combined passenger numbers of 5. 565 million in 2007 – 08 ( based on station exits ), a 162 % increase on the 2004 – 05 figure of 2. 122 million.

The median strip of the freeway also houses the Joondalup railway line, with all but two of the line's stations also built on the strip.

The last four stations of the Tozai subway line's western end are located here, two of which were added in 1999.

The station is slated to open in 2012, when the line's remaining stations in Zhuhai enter service.

This yard is large enough to store the existing fleet, but would have to be expanded or replaced if the TTC were to expand the line's capacity with new trains.

The dark green and cream tiled walls of the Piccadilly line's lower level passages and platforms were restored, with damaged tiles being replaced by reproductions to match the original designs.

Sets of crossovers were installed at St John's Road to enable trains to change from the joint line's left-hand running to the single-track sections on the Isle of Wight Central Railway's Newport line and the Isle of Wight Railway's Shanklin line ( now known as the Island Line ).

After arriving at the line's Seattle commissary, Titus and others discovered the " inedible " potatoes were delicious after baking in a slow oven.

30 trains were delivered to THSR operator Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation ( THSRC ), and are in regular service with a top speed of since the line's opening on January 5, 2007.

Passenger traffic was minimal-the settlements were mostly some distance from the line-except on Bank Holidays when all the line's rolling stock was used to run frequent services to handle the crowds.

" The article confirmed that funds were in place and contracts signed to complete the Green Line to the proposed Anacostia Station at Howard Road SE and Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue SE, but that repeated local opposition in Maryland to the line's actual location had forced planners to delay final siting of the line inside the District of Columbia.

The new " centenery " coaches, in the line's usual red livery, were delivered on 13 March 2008.

Several towns were established along the way to encourage settlements that would contribute to the line's business.

The line's path is somewhat similar to that of the Ginza Line ; however, the Hibiya Line was designed to serve a number of important districts, such as Ebisu, Roppongi, Tsukiji, Kayabachō and Senju, which were not on an existing line.

Although the closure of the tramway allowed planning to go ahead for a railway, the planning for the replacement railway line suffered various delays in the 1930s due to funding issues: the line's construction competed with a proposal to electrify the Illawarra Line to Waterfall, and there were disputes over the point at which the line would connect to the main line.

Almost-new 140Js were often resold soon after first registration for hundreds of dollars more than their retail prices, such was the model line's initial popularity.

Over the next four years, the more unusual serving pieces were being discontinued, and by 1946, the line's variety of items had been reduced by nearly one third.

The line's freight agents and sales force worked hard to sell the C & LE to shippers and were able to take business away from the steam railroads by guaranteeing overnight delivery by 8am the next morning, something that the competing steam railroads could not do.

The railway operates with six identical tramcars, all of which were built 1895 by George F. Milnes & Co., and delivered in time for the line's opening that year.

The two vessels, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy were ordered to help to expand the cruise line's fleet.

At that time, the line's passenger services were operated by steam railcar, but these later were replaced by diesel multiple units.

During the line's final year, life-sized totes were made and sold towards young girls.
