On September 16, 2002, the Vault Disney block was discontinued in favor of same-day repeats of the channel's original and off-network series, primarily to contribute to the network's then-upcoming " hip " image ; the removal of the block resulted in Disney Channel not featuring any programming targeted at adult audiences for the first time in the channel's history – with the only programming that intentionally targets the entire family being the channel's primetime feature films ; as of June 2011, Disney Channel is the only one of the largest American children's cable networks that does not target both kids during the daytime, and a family / adult audience at night ( Nickelodeon, The Hub and Cartoon Network each feature program blocks that target such a dual audience ).

CBS had intended to cancel the show after its first season, but Procter & Gamble threatened to pull its advertising from " the network's extremely lucrative daytime lineup " and the show was renewed, keeping its Wednesday night time slot.

Jackson worked as an NBC page at the network's Rockefeller Center studios and did summer stock in Vermont before landing a small role as the mysterious, silent ghost Daphne Harridge on the 1960s supernatural daytime quasi-soap opera Dark Shadows.

Separate daytime programs were slated to be produced by each of the network's originating stations, with the exception of CBAX-FM Halifax, which carries programming produced in Moncton.

After four years of mediocre success, CBS next tried it a half-hour later beginning on September 4, 1972 as part of a major overhaul of the network's daytime lineup.

The show had replaced the daytime version of Hollywood Squares, High Rollers, and Chain Reaction on NBC's schedule ( NBC president Fred Silverman also considered canceling Wheel of Fortune as well, but he changed his mind upon discovering that the show was in fact one of the highest-rated programs on the network's morning schedule ).

ABC's Cincinnati affiliate, WKRC-TV, and its Columbus affiliate, WTVN-TV ( now WSYX ), were both preempting certain of the network's daytime programs, late night shows, and some of its Saturday morning cartoons.

The MSNBC ticker is seen during the network's morning and daytime broadcasts, but is removed during live prime-time broadcasts of The Last Word with Lawrence O ' Donnell, Hardball and The Rachel Maddow Show.

The bulletins consist of three-minute local news updates that are broadcast five times throughout the network's daytime schedule.

In other dayparts, Silverman also reintroduced game shows to the network's daytime lineups in 1972 after a four-year absence ; among the shows Silverman introduced was an updated version of the 1950s game show The Price Is Right, which remains on the air nearly four decades later.

Some cities can receive several IPR stations, while areas of western and southern Iowa can only receive grade B coverage from one of the network's two AM stations during the daytime.

If the story breaks during daytime programming, the anchor will usually remind viewers that there will be or might be more details on their local news that day and a full wrap-up on the network's evening news program.
