* September 20 – The very last Warner Bros. cartoon of the original theatrical Looney Tunes series is released: Injun Trouble.

In 2003, another feature film was released, this time in an attempt to recapture the spirit of the original shorts: the live-action / animated Looney Tunes: Back in Action.

From February 29 – May 18, 2008, many Looney Tunes artifacts, including original animation cells & concept drawings, were on display at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio, just off the campus of Youngstown State University.

The show will have 2-minute music videos titled respectfully " Merrie Melodies ", as a tribute to the Looney Tunes sister shorts, which will feature the characters singing original songs.

Cartoon Network's success with original programming lead them to move the reruns of old Hanna-Barbera and Looney Tunes cartoons to their spin-off channel Boomerang.

At first, Bosko appeared in his original design and some of the old animation from the Looney Tunes series was even reused in those Happy Harmonies that features Bosko.

Injun Trouble was also the last of the original Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies cartoon to be produced before the Warner Bros. cartoon studio was closed.

At least three of these said Looney Tunes kept their original closing rings: The Goofy Gophers, What's Brewin ', Bruin?

Beginning in the 1956 – 57 season, " Blue Ribbon " reissues ( of other cartoons in the post-July 1948 package ) retained the original opening titles and technical credits ( the aforementioned Mighty Hunters having been a precedent ), with some of the cartoons indicating their original Looney Tunes issue if the opening and closing theme was " The Merry Go-Round Broke Down.

For the Looney Tunes Golden Collection DVD releases, WB went to great lengths to track down whatever elements of the original title credits still existed, in an effort to re-create as best they could the original versions of the altered " Blue Ribbon " shorts.

Although some original titles couldn't be found, some Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies have the Blue Ribbon Reissue title cards, but the original ending titles have been restored for some of the shorts.

All five of the original Tasmanian Devil cartoons are included in Looney Tunes Platinum Collection: Volume 1 as is " The Fright Before Christmas ".

Woody's original voice actor, Mel Blanc, would stop performing the character after the first four cartoons to work exclusively for Leon Schlesinger Productions ( Later renamed Warner Bros. Cartoons ), producer of Warner Bros .' Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies.

( From August 1968 to the end of the original series in 1969, Merrie Melodies had the last line reading " A Vitagraph Release " while Looney Tunes of that same one-year period read " A Vitaphone Release ".
