Ukraine has vineyards where they produce native wines, ruins of ancient castles, historical parks, Orthodox and Catholic churches as well as a few mosques and synagogues.

These objects and the ruins of palaces, temples, and baths at Meroe attest to a centralized political system that employed artisans ' skills and commanded the labour of a large work force.

The centre ( forum ) of the civilian city was next to the palace ruins, also referred to as the large public baths.

The ruins of the baths

The ruins include an arena, amphitheatre, thermal baths, and paleochristian basilica.

A number of Roman public baths survive, either as ruins or in varying degrees of conservation.

There are ruins of other Roman settlements along the Verde and Guadalmina rivers: Villa Romana on the Rio Verde ( Green River ), the Roman baths at Guadalmina, and the ruins of a Roman villa and an early Byzantine basilica at Vega del Mar, built in the 3rd century and surrounded by a paleo-Christian necropolis, later used as a burial ground by the Visigoths.

Langensalza is something of a tourist spot, with picturesque ruins of a medieval castle, and sulphur baths nearby.

On the same road are the ruins of the Aquae Apollinaris, a complex of baths famous in the Roman age.

Returning to his home town of Caerleon ( now a village in south Wales just outside Newport, where the ruins of the Roman fortress of Isca can still be seen, whose walls surrounding its Roman baths and elsewhere were still standing high during the medieval period ), Sir Launfal takes humble lodgings, spends all the money that King Arthur gave him before setting out, and soon descends into poverty and debt.
