Gore is a small, wedge-shaped township, consisting of only four full sections and six partial sections on the shore of Lake Huron just north of the village of Port Hope.

Williamstown is a " general law " township with a supervisor, clerk, treasurer and four trustees.

In 1843, Terrill, along with Anson W. Halbert, built a sawmill on the Sebewa Creek, just west of " The Corners " located where the corners of four sections met along the eastern township line.
