The Conrail rail yards to the village's north and south mark its historical importance as a railroad town like nearby Village of Depew.

The famous bardic line Beibl a Rhaw i Bobl y Rhos (" a Bible and a Spade for the People of Rhos ) reflect the importance of both coal-mining and the chapels on the village's culture and heritage.

One now leads to Aberdour railway station, a beautifully kept and cared for example of a traditional station, in keeping with its role of transporting at least a quarter of the village's working population to their work each day.

In the village of Lutzingen, Count Maffei positioned five Bavarian battalions with a great battery of 16 guns at the village's edge.

During Prohibition ( 1923 – 33 ), the village's proximity to the Canadian border made it popular with those who wanted to smuggle illegal alcohol across the border.

The village celebrated its 150th anniversary on July 19, 2009 with the second parade in the village's history.

Given the village's rich history, coastal location and close proximity to eastern U. S. cities, Cabot Cove was transformed from a small, sleepy fishing village to a tourist destination for the people coming from New York.

Church of St Mary the Virgin, Clapham, believed to have been built in the 12th century. The main part of the village is known simply as The Street, a single long dead-end road coming off the A280 and containing the majority of the village's housing.

The village's present name derives from the Millers Falls Manufacturing Company ( later the Millers Falls Company ), established on the Millers River in 1868, and famed for its fine hand tools.

The village's growth in the early 19th century was due to the opening of the Pennsylvania Canal passing through the village as a result canal-related businesses sprung up quickly, including a shipyard, mule stables, general store and several hotels ; the most notable was Upper Black Eddy Inn this was later transformed into Chef Tell's Manor House, which closed in 2004 and demolished in 2010.

1725 is the first year that records of the village's largest pub appear – The White Hart, which is still in use today, although frequent fines for unlicensed brewing, breaking the assize of ale, and permitting the playing of illegal games such as tennis, suggest that several alehouses existed in the later 15th and earlier 16th centuries.

The minister whose name is still remembered centuries later is Dr Richard Price, a libertarian and republican who cemented the village's " reputation as a centre for radical thinkers and social reformers ".

Approximately ten tributaries feed this river, whose course ends in the Serra de Água, and much later empties into the Atlantic along the village's coast.

The gates which bear the station badge were later erected at the entrance to the village's recreation ground.

Albert Nash, who had been the village's blacksmith for over forty years, is said to have been found sobbing over his anvil and later became the first resident to die and be brought back to Imber for burial.

The village's name is from the Old English middel for " Middle " and tun meaning farm or settlement and the second part of the name appears to be from " Malsoures ", the name of a prominent local family added much later.

The village's existence is recorded in the journals of Catholic missionaries who visited the region in the early 17th century: Reverend Father Joseph de La Roche Daillon, for example, spent the winter of 1625-1626 with the people, and his accounts were later translated into English by Dean Harris for his book " Pioneers of the Cross in Canada ".
