AIX Version 1, introduced in 1986 for the IBM 6150 RT workstation, was based on UNIX System V Releases 1 and 2.

Version 4. 1, in a slightly modified form, was also the standard operating system for the Apple Network Server systems sold by Apple Computer to complement the Macintosh line.

In the spirit of ecumenism more recent Catholic translations ( e. g. the New American Bible, Jerusalem Bible, and ecumenical translations used by Catholics, such as the RSV-CE ) use the same " standardized " ( King James Version ) spellings and names as Protestant Bibles ( e. g. 1 Chronicles as opposed to the Douaic 1 Paralipomenon, 1-2 Samuel and 1-2 Kings instead of 1-4 Kings ) in those books which are universally considered canonical, the protocanonicals.

The Common Gateway Interface ( CGI ) is a standard ( see RFC 3875: CGI Version 1. 1 ) method for web server software to delegate the generation of web content to executable files.

Among other variants, IBM later produced AIX Version 3 ( also known as AIX / 6000 ), based on System V Release 3, for their IBM POWER-based RS / 6000 platform.
