From 1906, Nordentoft, together with Jens M. Gregersen, a pastor from Kimballton, Iowa, and Peder P. Hornsyld, a lecturer at Grand View, had discussed the possibility of creating a new Danish colony with a dedicated Lutheran church and school on the west coast.

The city is bordered by portions of San Jose to the north, Moffett Federal Airfield to the northwest, Mountain View to the west, Los Altos to the southwest, Cupertino to the south, and Santa Clara to the east.

The town is bordered to the north by the Delaware Seashore State Park and by Salt Pond, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by South Bethany, and to the west by Ocean View.

Caucasians also did not settle the area prior to 1900, probably because Indian River Inlet cut the area off from their settlements to the north and because the town of Ocean View, founded in 1889 and now Bethany Beachs neighbor to the west, did not expand its boundaries eastward toward the coast.

It contiguous on the east with Ocean View, and bordered on the north, west, and south by unincorporated portions of Sussex County.

The Delaware State Police polices Millville under a contract with the Town and the Millville Volunteer Fire Company serves Millville, Ocean View, and unincorporated portions of Sussex County as far east as the Assawoman Canal and as almost as far west as Dagsboro ; it purchased its first motor-driven firefighting vehicle in 1936 and today operates 16 vehicles.

Oak View is a census-designated place ( CDP ) in Ventura County, California, United States located in the western portion of the Ojai Valley situated between the towns of Casitas Springs ( south ) and Mira Monte ( north ).
