Built 1894, for Sir Vincent Meredith, 1st Baronet of Montreal, now part of McGill University.

No building had taken place, but economically Montreal had come out of the war almost unscathed, due in a large part to the steady hand of the Bank of Montreal's ( Canada's national bank until 1934 ) then president, Sir Vincent Meredith.

In 1891, he returned to the bank as a director, and after the death of Sir George Alexander Drummond, he was elected as the Bank's president from 1910 to 1913, when he was succeeded by his son-in-law's brother, Sir Vincent Meredith.

* January 16 – American Revolutionary War – Battle of Cape St. Vincent: British Admiral Sir George Rodney defeats a Spanish fleet.

The Battle of Cape St Vincent ( 14 February 1797 ) was one of the opening battles of The Anglo-Spanish War ( 1796 – 1808 ) where a British fleet under Admiral Sir John Jervis defeated a larger Spanish fleet under Admiral Don José de Córdoba near Cape St. Vincent, Portugal.

Vincent O ' Brien named Nijinsky and Sir Ivor as the best horses he had trained, placing Nijinsky first " for brilliance.

Champion racehorses trained by Vincent O ' Brien on the flat include Nijinsky II, Sir Ivor, Ballymoss, Alleged, The Minstrel and El Gran Senor.

In 1715, founder Sir Mathias Vincent and others failed to pay taxes to William Penn, who took them to court.

Elizabeth died young, Anne married Ralph Sadleir, son and heir of Sir Thomas Sadleir, and Bridget married William Skinner, son and heir of Sir Vincent Skinner.

During the summer of 1779 the Monarch was attached to the Channel fleet under Sir Charles Hardy ; in December was one of the squadron with which Rodney sailed for the relief of Gibraltar, and had a prominent share in the action off St. Vincent on 16 January 1780.
