: First recorded performance: possibly on 2 December 1603 at Wilton House in Wiltshire, where a play was performed for James I ; earliest definite performance on 20 December 1740, at Drury Lane.

The first recorded building on the site of Wilton House was a priory founded by King Egbert circa 871.

From 1967 to 1969, he formed part of The Kenny Clarke-Francy Boland Big Band, and in the late 70s, recorded with Peter Herbolzheimer And His Big Band, which also included, among others, Nat Adderley, Derek Watkins, Art Farmer, Slide Hampton, Jiggs Whigham, Herb Geller, Wilton Gaynair, Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, Rita Reys, Jean " Toots " Thielemans, Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Grady Tate, and Quincy Jones as arranger.

Despite further attacks, Wilton remained a prosperous town, as recorded in the Domesday book.

* Weir Farm National Historic Site — 735 Nod Hill Road ( added November, 1990 ) located both in Wilton and Ridgefield.

The town has two railroad stations: Wilton and Cannondale ( a sub-station where tickets are not sold ), both part of the Danbury Line of Metro-North Railroad.

Oda was consecrated Bishop of Ramsbury sometime between 909 and 927, not to Wilton as stated by both William of Malmesbury and the Life.

In most English houses today these rooms have usually become a meaningless succession of drawing rooms and the original intention lost, this is certainly true at both Wilton House and Blenheim Palace.

Pritchard made many ascents of outstanding problems in the Wilton Quarries, Anglezarke and Hoghton as well as playing a pivotal role in the early development of both Craig y Longridge and Thorn Crag and engaging in extensive exploration of Malham Cove.

The Wilton Diptych ( c. 1395 – 1399 ) is a small portable diptych of two hinged panels, painted on both sides.

Later styles are represented by Longford Castle, near Salisbury, where the picture galleries are of great interest ; by Heytesbury House ; by Wilton House at Wilton, Kingston House at Bradford-upon-Avon, Bowood House near Calne, Longleat near Warminster, Corsham Court at Corsham, Littlecote near Ramsbury, Chariton House near Malmesbury, Compton Chamberlayne in the Nadder valley, Grittleton House and the modern Castle Combe, both near Chippenham and Stourhead, on the borders of Dorset and Somerset.

During her stay at Romsey and, some time before 1093, at Wilton Abbey, both institutions known for learning, the Scottish princess was much sought-after as a bride ; refusing proposals from William de Warenne, 2nd Earl of Surrey, and Alan Rufus, Lord of Richmond.

As a result both the Wilton store as well as the Nutgrove store ( in Dublin ) closed, along with the company's head office.

It is a rather dark piece, full of Rockenfield tape effects, DeGarmo / Wilton twin guitar work and it marks Tate's first appearance as a saxophonist.

The town is bounded on the north by Lewisboro and Pound Ridge in Westchester County, New York, on the east by Wilton, on the southeast by Norwalk, on the south by Darien and on the southwest and west by Stamford.

During the Revolutionary War, in 1777 the British used Wilton as an escape route after their successful raid on Danbury.

With a strong anti-slavery sentiment by its residents, Wilton served as a stop on the Underground Railroad.

In the fall, hunters with bows and arrows — no more than 10 at a time — are allowed to hunt deer on the Wilton property in order to keep down the number of deer in the area.

In the past five years, over 91 % of Wilton High School graduates have gone on to colleges and universities.

A commuter shuttle bus during rush hours is also available between southern Wilton and the South Norwalk railroad station on the New Haven Line.

* Ira Levin, writer, lived in Wilton in the 1960s and claimed in a March 27, 2007 letter to the New York Times that he based the fictional town of Stepford on Wilton.

A further meeting on 16 September, held in Bolton, appointed a committee of six Boltonians chaired by Lord Grey de Wilton to attend at Manchester.

On April 14, 2012, during a show at HSBC in São Paulo, Brazil, Tate threw several punches and physically assaulted and spat on Rockenfield and Wilton in an act of retaliation stemming from a pre-show argument on the firing of Susan Tate as band manager and his daughter Miranda from running the band's fan club.
