* Yang-style ( 楊氏 ) of Yang Lu-ch ' an ( 1799 – 1872 )

Wu Yu-hsiang was a scholar from a wealthy and influential family who became a senior student ( along with his two older brothers Wu Ch ' eng-ch ' ing and Wu Ju-ch ' ing ) of Yang Lu-ch ' an.

The founder of the Yang-style was Yang Lu-ch ' an ( 楊露禪 ), aka Yang Fu-k ' ui ( 楊福魁, 1799 – 1872 ), who studied under Ch ' en Chang-hsing starting in 1820.

Yang Pan-hou became the formal teacher of Wu Ch ' uan-yu ( Wu Quanyou ), a Manchu Banner cavalry officer of the Palace Battalion, even though Yang Lu-ch ' an was Wu Ch ' uan-yu's first t ' ai chi ch ' uan teacher.

Wu Chien-ch ' uan was taught martial arts by his father, Wu Ch ' uan-yu, a senior student of Yang Lu-ch ' an and Yang Pan-hou.

Yang Jianhou ( 1839-1917 ), or Yang Chien-hou, was the younger son of the founder of Yang-style t ' ai chi ch ' uan, Yang Lu-ch ' an, and a well known teacher of the soft style martial art of t ' ai chi ch ' uan ( taijiquan ) in late Qing dynasty China.

Wu Ch ' uan-yü ( Wu Quanyou, 吳全佑, 1834 – 1902 ), who learned from Yang Lu-ch ' an and Yang Pan-hou, was senior instructor of the family from 1870-1902.

Cheng's changes to the Yang-style form have never been officially recognised by the Yang family and ( perhaps partly because of the continued popularity of Cheng's shortened form ) his style is still a source of controversy among some t ' ai chi ch ' uan practitioners.

The Comintern sent Yang back to China to assist and support other pro-Comintern CCP leaders, including Bo Gu, Otto Braun ( Li De ), Wang Ming, and Zhang Guotao, but Yang and some of the other 28 Bolsheviks, including Ye Jianying, supported Mao in preference to leaders which the Comintern preferred.

After Duke Xiao's death, King Huiwen became the new ruler of Qin and he put Shang Yang to death on charges of treason, but some believed that the king harboured a personal grudge against Shang because he was harshly punished under Shang's reformed system in his adolescence for a minor infraction.
