On Earth-2149 ( a world in which almost all heroes and villains are zombies ) an undead Doctor Octopus first appears in the Marvel Zombies series alongside several other zombie supervillains attempting to kill and devour the invading Galactus ; this incarnation of Doctor Octopus is apparently destroyed piecemeal by several cosmically powered hero zombies after he got in the way of an attack they were aiming at the invading Galactus.

The zombie virus spreads to a different Quicksilver in ' Earth Z ', who is featured in the limited series Marvel Zombies Return.

When the zombies from Earth-2149 cross over into Earth-Z, Quicksilver is transformed into a zombie, and in Marvel Zombies Return # 5 is one of the few remaining zombies left who fought against Spider-Man and his New Avengers, attempting to steal a canister containing the ' cure ' that Spider-Man had developed, only for the wall-crawler to accidentally pull Quicksilver's head off when trying to catch him with his webbing.

It is later revealed in Marvel Zombies Return # 1 that this Sandman was infected by his reality's Spider-Man.

Later on, Sandman is infused with a nanite cure developed by Tony Stark and the Zombie Spider-Man that incorporates Wolverine's healing factor, which allows him to safely confront the Zombies, and he finally ends the menace by completely engulfing them, which allows the nanites to disintegrate them.

The game was originally self-published by BRAM Inc. as Zombies ( organized by Edwards and a family friend ) before producer Don Daglow acquired the rights for EA and renamed the game Mike Edwards ' Realm of Impossibility.

Originally titled Blood Bullet: The House of the Dead Side Story, the game was later renamed Zombies Nightmare before Sega decided on the name Zombie Revenge.
