When Nekron is defeated, Larfleeze takes the ring from Luthor, leaving him powerless, and allows Luthor to remain on Earth with the Green Lanterns ( although Sinestro notes that this is the first time Larfleeze has given anyone anything ).

As of 2011, Sinestro is still an unwilling Green Lantern, Hal remains exiled ( although he has been forced to assist Sinestro's activities with a ring created and powered by Sinestro ) while Kyle has gone AWOL alongside six members of the other Lantern Corps.

During the fight, the entire Corps is kidnapped by Sinestro to act as a power source for a doomsday device.

The leader of the Corps is Sinestro, with Abin Sur, Kilowog, and Tomar-Re being central characters.

One year later, Superboy is released from his prison by the newly-formed Sinestro Corps and joins them, becoming one of their heralds and wearing a Sinestro Corps uniform beneath his Anti-Monitor inspired armor.

In the Green Lantern Corps story " Tygers ", by Alan Moore, Abin Sur is witness to a prophecy which states that among the gathered enemies to destroy the Green Lantern Corps would be the " Weaponers of Qward "; the Sinestro Corps War storyline is a partial fulfillment of that prophecy, later to be known as " The Blackest Night ".

Thaal Sinestro is a fictional character, an alien supervillain / anti-hero in the DC Comics Universe.

Created by John Broome and Gil Kane, Sinestro is the former mentor of Hal Jordan and the arch-nemesis of the entire Green Lantern Corps.

The Green Lantern Corps is once again reformed with the return of Hal Jordan so Sinestro decides to found the Sinestro Corps, offering yellow power rings and a role in the Corps to the most feared and savage warriors of the universe.

Sinestro is then imprisoned in Oa's Sciencells where he learns from Hal Jordan that he has received a death penalty.

They were not, however, enough to prevent an assault by the Sinestro Corps, which resulted in the deaths of many Green Lanterns.

Two of the most important fallen Lanterns were Sinestro, the rogue Green Lantern, and Hal Jordan, who would unknowingly become possessed by Parallax, the ancient fear parasite trapped in the Battery.

This was planned by Sinestro while he was imprisoned in the Battery.

When Kyle Rayner accidentally travelled through time to ten years in the past and met a young Hal Jordan, the Guardians were able to send Rayner back to his own time by using the power from the Central Battery after Jordan and Rayner defeated Sinestro together.

Gibbons provided covers for three issues of writers Kurt Busiek and Fabian Nicieza's run on Action Comics ( issues # 841 – 843 ) and co-penciled ( with Ethan van Sciver ) the Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps issue as part of the Sinestro Corps story arc, inspired by a Green Lantern story written by Moore in the 1980s.

All Qwardians now sport slave collars, put on them by Sinestro himself to assure their loyalty.

In the War of the Green Lanterns storyline Sinestro and the other ' New Guardians ' are trapped in the Book of the Black by Lyssa Drak while trying to recover the emotional entities from Krona.

In the final battle, Hal takes Kyle to the Book of the Black and makes him draw a picture of Sinestro, Carol Ferris and the others Lanterns traped in the Book which effectively free them from their prison.

During Krona's takeover of the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro and other ring-wielders are briefly trapped in the Book of the Black and experience visions of their pre-ring pasts, with Sinestro encountering a pre-Tribe Indigo-1 locked in a prison and trying to find out where Abin Sur has imprisoned her, but Sinestro departs to focus on his own escape rather than try to rescue her, leaving her history a continued mystery.

He has expressed displeasure at the fact that the Guardians have rewritten the Book of Oa to allow lethal force against members of the Sinestro Corps, but is still committed to serve.

He survived the Sinestro Corps War without major injuries, he continues to hold onto his position as keeper of the Book of Oa.
