S-10

Shortly after their arrival, the Chrysler minivans competed against the truck-based front-engine, rear drive Chevrolet Astro, GMC Safari ( based on a reworked 1st generation S-10 platform ), and Ford Aerostar ( based on a reworked 1st-generation Ranger platform ).

On September 15, 2001, the 42-year old Roque took his Chevrolet S-10 from the Wild Hare sports bar in Mesa where he had reportedly been ranting about immigrants, and drove to the Chevron gas station owned by Balbir Singh Sodhi, who had emigrated from India in 1989.

The body and final assembly is by Grumman, and the chassis is made by General Motors, with the powerplant ( 2. 5L I-4 TBI " Iron Duke " and, in later production, General Motors 2. 2L I-4 iron block / aluminum head engine ), instrument cluster and front suspension similar to those used in the Chevrolet S-10 pickup.

General Motors has used torsion bars since 1966, starting with the E-platform vehicles ( Oldsmobile Toronado, Cadillac Eldorado ), 4 wheel drive S-10 pickups & Astro vans, and since 1988, full size trucks ( GMT400, GMT800, and GMT900 series ).

Chevrolet produced 4 door versions of its S-10 pickup in the early 90's, and Nissan began making its own 4 door version of the compact truck in 2000.

Like its direct competitor, the Chevrolet S-10 Blazer, it was available in both 2-door and 4-door body styles, and with rear or four-wheel drive.

The Chevrolet S-10 is a compact pickup truck from the Chevrolet marque of General Motors.

There was also an SUV version, the Chevrolet S-10 Blazer / GMC S-15 Jimmy.

The S-Series ended production in Brazil in 2012, being replaced by the thai Chevrolet Colorado, but still with the name S-10.

1983 – 1990 Chevrolet S-10 single cab

The sport utility S-10 Blazer and S-15 Jimmy debuted in 1983 ; GM was the second to introduce compact sport utilities behind Jeep but ahead of Ford.

The High Performance version came with a larger diameter Y pipe, and was only installed in some of the S-10 Blazers and S-15 Jimmies as well as the S-10 Pickups
