Learn to Read Hiragana and Katakana

Learning to read Hiragana and Katakana is easy and opens a large amount of manga and websites up to the casual reader. It's important to learn these two to read Japanese because although there is a direct translation between each and Romanji, it won't be given anywhere. It's up to you to learn this table. It should only take a short while.

A good idea to memorize these is to write them down a bunch of times. Not only will this teach you to remember them, but it will also teach you to write them, which is not the same thing as remembering them.
